At least she brings them to me as a proof of her affection as grusom as that sounds.
I've tried bells and it dosen't work. It made her a better killer!
My neighbors keep their finches outside during the day time. I let her out cause I have another cat indoor that she positivily hates.

1. get the cat a larger bell. sometimes those little collars with the baby bells on them don't work, you need like a cat-sized cowbell.
2. DO NOT declaw the cat.
3. DO consider building a little kennel or fenced in area for kitty to hang out in when she's outside. lots of internet sites out there with ideas for this.
4. The indoor cat she hates - that IS a problem. perhaps if you worked on socializing the two cats more, your "outside" cat wouldn't feel like she has to go out all the time.
5. more toys and time with you - can you play with her more? it will tire her out and maybe she won't feel like going outside as much and maybe she'll lose a step or two and the birds can get away. You can buy toys for cats that are made of feathers. My experience has been that they absolutely LOVE the feather toys.

good luck. (ps the birds of prey will kick her A** , so don't encourage that)

If your cat lives outdoors, DO NOT make it live inside the house. If you have a kitten that lived outside, then you can bring it in the house. If it is an adult now, then the cat will have known the joys of living outside. It will meow for hours and try to go outside. If it is a indoor/outdoor cat, then it can stay inside the house.
DO NOT declaw your cat if it goes outside. If you do, the cat could get into a fight and not be able to fight. Then it would probably get pretty beat up. Otherwise, it might try to run from something and not be able to climb a tree because it has no claws.
Cats are predators by nature, so it will kill other animals. If you don't want it to kill birds, then put a collar with a bell onto the cat. When you put the collar on, it will probably do some weird things to try to get the collar off, but this is normal. If you do this, then your cat will not be able to catch anything. (Unless there are some deaf birds or other animals out there)

Hope this helps!!

It's a natural predator thing for your cat. Put a collar with a bell on it on the cat. At least the birds will get some sort of warning.

Try to keep her inside, but just in case she slips out try getting a collar with a bell attached to it. That way the birds can fly away. As for your neighbors finches, you might want to tell them.

nope. It's instinct and no matter how much you feed your cat, she will still hunt. It's a natural instinct completely apart form hunger.
You can keep the instinct from kicking in if you keep your cat inside, but once it's been brought out, you can't stop her from doing it.
The only way to stop her now is to keep her indoors. If she goes after a bird of prey, she could be in for some serious injuries.

I have had alot of cats over the years, and sometimes you just get a cat that likes to hunt. There is really nothing you can do about it, unless the cat is doing it because it is hungry. Is the cat eating these birds? if it is, then just feed it more. if not, then there is nothing you can do. As your cat gets older than it might slow down, because some of mine have done this. Sorry!

She is a cat, and she is simply acting like a cat. The only solution is keeping her indoors. You can't teach a cat not to hunt....it's part of her survival instinct to hunt even if she does not need to. Cats can live full, happy lives and never go outside. They are also safer living their lives indoors.

You cant technecly stop the cat from doing this, its a natural instinct of theirs. But you can get a collar for it with a jingly bell on it...this will warn the birds the cat is coming. I recomend getting one that has a stretch gaurd on it too, so your cat wont get caught anywhere.

cats are hunters. if you let the cat out she will hunt. That is their nature and all you can do is accept it.
Interesting many years ago they did a study in England and it appears that people get upset when their cats kill birds but not when they kill mice.
All a statement of perception. we like birds and hate mice. But the cat just sees them al as prey!!!!!.

The obvious solution is to keep her indoors completely. You haven't said why you allow her outside.

You can build a cat kennel outdoors if she needs time out there without being a menace to the neighbors, and it'll keep her from being hit by a car, attacked by kids or dogs, and away from any poisons.
