Feel the top of the hip bone, it should be flat but with a pad of flesh over it. Cats who are loosing weight suddenly loose it from here and it's very noticeable when they go down. There should be a pad of muscle there, as 11 years old isn't old in a cat.
Feel along the backbone, is the spine feeling like rosary beads? That's not a good sign.
Also feel the shoulder blades, can you feel an incredibly sharp ridge running vertical on them? This is a danger sign, get the cat in for a checkup, sharp ridges on the shoulder blades means too much body loss all at once.
The main causes are renal failure, kidney failure, thyroid problems or diabetes -- the things that make muscle and flesh melt off a cat. The first is not treatable, but the others are, but you HAVE to start treating them as soon as you can. Leaving it wait only makes things worse.

Your cat may have worms in her stomach. If you see some vine like things in her stool (poop) then she has worms. Take her to the vet or go to your local pet store and buy some dewormer. You will have to make sure that your maincoon (one of my favorite breeds of cat) is kept away from her stool.
If this doesn't work, take your cat to the vet.

If she is eating a lot and losing weight, she may have an overactive thyroid, which is really not a problem, but she would need medication. It could be worms. Or it could be some other things that are not so easy to deal with. But the bottom line is you need to get her in to the vet (along with one of her poops in a baggie) and let him evaluate her.

check her fecal matter for internal parasites. At her age, this can be especially dangerous so a vet visit might be a good idea.

yes, you should worry.....eating a lot and loosing weight...(.drinking alot of water ????) could be diabetes, could be hyperthyroid, could be kidney disease.....
You need a professional opinion. Please call your vet and have some simple blood work done..
good luck
