Okay, the question is a little more complex than it sounds. Our family (well, my 12 year old daughter) is looking into buying a dog. She has proved she resonsible and we already own one so there is no problem there. But does anyone know any dog breeds (besides Golden retriver, Portugese Water dog, Labrador, etc etc etc.) That are friendly, good with kids, don't shd to much, Itelligent, and love the water and travel, like, can handle being on a sail boat. We looked into a Miniture Australian Sheperd, but I don't know if they like water. Thats the big thing. Anyway, we live on a an island, so plenty of fresh and space, but there is no fence around our yard, even though it's quite big. So a dog that is, well, all of the above. I know I'm asking for a bit of a miracle here, please don't say poodle btw, and, thanks so much for reading this all the way to the bottom

i am so shocked!! but i think i need to start from the beginning
we have a mongrel and a few other dogs.
this mongrel is the choice of my fiance. he is very shy with men, will not come to my fiance, trusts me, won't eat when my fiance is there and pees himself when my fiance gets too close when he feels unsure.
another thing is the dog is very possessive aggressive. meaning food, space and toys.
yesterday it went all crazy. the mongrel attacked my poodle and then my fiance grabbed the mongrel by the scruff of the neck (he is now 8 months old) picked him about 40cm off the floor and threw him about 1 m. the dog landed funny and he is limping a little now.
i had a talk with my fiance & he says he is sorry but sorry is not enough!!!!! i think he should give up the dog as he has done too much damage & the dog is just stressed now!
but he doesn't want to!! i don't get it! how can i convince him?!

We are currently feeding her pedigree puppy dry food, we just looked at the ingredients, not knowing to in the first place because it says BALANCED, and the first ingredient is a corn filler! We mix in a little wet food to coat the dry because she likes that alot more. She will not touch the dry food if we don't do this! She has been itching alot too, but she does not have fleas! What can we feed her to calm our worries and know that she is getting the best nutrition we can afford?

It is the shape of a tulip that goes around the neck.

I also need to know if these collars are uncomfortable or heavy? I have a husky who has a SERIOUS fence jumping behaviour. We tried building fence after fence but it's not working. The real built in fence is the only one that can keep him in but at the moment his head can fit through it. So I'm planning on having a collar put on him to restrain him.

My neighbors leave their two Pomeranian dogs outside all day and all night when it gets down to 30 degrees (Fahrenheit). They have food and water and are on five foot leashes on a cement patio with a roof covering them (eight feet up) but only walls on two sides. They just sit out there and bark all day long. I called the humane society and they said that as long as there is a roof over them it isn't animal cruelty and they suggested that I call the police, but I know the police wont do anything. What should I do?

I would like to do a small tank with just some plants, and maybe a snail and a shrimp....(its an itty bitty tank)

Which snails leave plants alone?
Do they multiply like bunnies if I have only one?
Also - do they realy crawl out of the tanks?
I've never had one - and I would like to avoid mistakes if possible
Obviously

I am a probationer still having my first SW aquarium I have had it running for 5 months, no problems. Anyways I am planning on setting up a seahorse tank (dwarfs), I am planning on using a 5 gallon hex aquarium. I have found one filtered but it is a bi-wheel and 35 gph. But I have a plain 5 hex tank and I have found many filters but cannot choose one here are the links of the filters I have found(Listed Most liked-neutral): http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+16742&pcatid=16742

My boyfriend is in the process of buying a puppy, and has good lines on three breeders near us. We have been to two of the three kennels in person and talked to the breeders and met there dogs already. These two are asking that applicants send in veterinarian references as well as personal references. What should he be asking the vet to include and what do breeders want to know in order for them to see you are good dog owners (I don't want to leave anything out)? All of these breeders have waiting lists and only planned breedings, not pregnant dogs or puppies so we have the time to make sure we get this right :) What do breeders want to hear from potential owners in these letter, and is there a format to follow? We are looking at American Bulldog breeders if it makes any difference.

Neither of us have ever bought a dog from a breeder before, so any suggestions of things we need in our vet letter or any other tips on things we don't want to miss including in his personal reference

My dog is amazing! I want her to be in top dog competition thing, and she's not a 'mutt' as some rudley put it. She is only 2 breeds, a chiwawa and toypoodle. So, can I do that? Where? Website please? When? Make it in the Bay Area! Help!

I've had this green layer of..... well I don't really know. It's been there for a couple of months, and goes away with water changes, but returns within a few days. I've tried using different water (distilled and tap) and salt, and trying numerous water changes, but nothings happened. I've got a 20 gallon set up with a yellow tang, percula clown, mandarin dragonet, mushroom polyps, a condi-lactis anemone, and emerald crap, and numerous kinds of algea (all being green in color, so the basic). I seem to be getting the problem after putting PhytoPlex into the water. I have bought a different bottle of it and it still persists. I put in the same amount I have before. I put in about a half a teaspoon. I was putting in more previously (about 2 teaspoons) when I was directed to use only half a teaspoon a few months back. What could be my problem?

where exactly did they come from? i don't recall learning about goldfish that live in the lakes, oceans or ponds. if so, then can they only live in fish tanks? LOL i know, this question is funny right....but i honestly don't remember fishing for goldfish in lakes, and i don't think they live in ocean water....just curious...as i'm so bored out of my mind...

So I have heard mixed answers to this and no I haven't called the vet to find out, what the real answer is so.....

How long would 2grams of bute on a 1100lb mule take effect where you get the upmost advantage of it. How long does it last too in a one time only dose?

My guys NEVER get sick nor do they EVER do anything to hurt themselves. But Stretch *my main man* is bucking again with his 5th saddle, vet checked and approved, so now I'm trying to see if its mental vs actual pain issues.

So i buted him at 300pm and rode him at 630-830pm to see. He is bucky at a lope only. He doesn't test out sore anywhere and the chiro isn't sure what to think of it either. I can hook this mule to cart and hes brilliant, you saddle him and you have a humongo jerk on your hands.

So tonight, no bucking, but I did pull out the crop too (he has a huge respect for it) and seemed to ease up more in his lopes and not so bunched up and high headed.

Was that enough time for the bute to work?
