Why not get the next one or two from a shelter? Save yourself a few bucks and help stop mass breeders.

My sister just adopted a dog from teh animal shelter i work at, and he was VERY abused by his previous owners. If the fridge kicks in, he flinches and runs away. If you make too fast movements, he flinches too.
Do you think with gentle hands and words he will eventually learn to trust again? Or does this depend on the dog?
Any experiences you have, I would really like to hear them, thank you!

She has only done it once, so I'm not too worried. She went outside twice today... peed twice and pooped once, so she didn't throw up because she hasn't gone to the bathroom. She hasn't ate or drank much today (however that's not unusal because she usually eats during the evening) I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to soothe her stomach, I did an internet search and some people say to give her a treat and others say not to feed her for a few hours. If it happens again I'm going to call the vet, but there's really no use in calling the vet if she only did it once.

The crate is just right for his size, he doesn't eliminate in it. I get up to let him out to pee/poop, but when It's time to put him back and I lay down he wines, cries and chirp barks for A LONG time. I try to ignore him, but it's very hard. My husband says I'm a pushover. After 30min of it I get him out and let him sleep w/ me. Help! I've tried putting some treats leading into his crate, but once I close the door he starts up again. He is in the same room with us and can see us.

this is the first time my dog echo (thats her name) is pregnant and it was planned and i have no experienced in this what so ever anyone. I didnt relized she was pregnate intill the middle of november when she stopped eatting due to morning sickness, we figure out that she must of got pregnant around october 23 2007. My question is where would i feel for the movement of the puppies because i put my hand everywhere that i could on her body to feel the pups but i had no luck, her boobs seem to be big and hard and some people say it look like she has something called milkbags underneath her hangs really low to the floor and is hard like a rock is that where i would feel for the pups or somewhere else and what would i need besides a whelping box for when she is ready to deilver. Oh and she is a akita and german shepherd but she looks more like a akita

I have a dilemma. I will soon be buying my first condo and moving out of my parent's house. I will be taking my 15 y/o girl cat Panther with me, but am torn about taking the 11 y/o male, O'Malley.
At home, he is allowed to go outside. He doesn't go far, and only stays out for 30 min tops at a time. He loves it. I don't think I could let him go outside at the condo; he's unfamiliar with the area, and being on the 2nd floor means I won't hear him when he comes back. Do I take him and make him quit going outside cold turkey? Or miss him terribly and let him stay with my parents... Anyone have experience with converting a cat to indoor only who once could go out?

He gets very loud when he wants out; worried that'll bug the neighbors. I also worry he'll take out frustration about not getting to go out on Panther, who is very submissive to him. Plus, the condo will be much smaller than my parent's house.

How well can a cat adjust to becoming indoor only? What would you do?

I posted a question yesterday that my dog had thrown up a large river rock. He continued to get sick so I took him to the vet and they found another rock in his small intestine and had to do surgery. Besides, getting rid of all the rocks in my yard, do you have any suggestions of how to keep him from eating them? Has anybody used a muzzle while their dogs are outside so they don't get into eating everything? He also likes to naw on the stucco on the side of the house which seems odd. Maybe he's lacking some minerals or vitamins?

Do you know what titles are? Have you ever titled a dog in anything?

Pick a title and give a description of what it takes to earn that title for a dog. There are so many things that can be trained for, like obedience, agility, herding, hunting/tracking, retrieving, earthdog, etc...

If you've personally trained your dog for it, how much training was involved to be ready to trial and earn that title? Months, years? How old was your dog when you earned the first title and what breed?

She was exposed to my sister's untreated, allegedly flea-less dog but is stricktly an indoor cat. I have found a few what could be flea bites on my arm (it could also be a spider bite from the new christmas tree). Still I comb through her and find nothing. She is 7lbs and I would rather not treat her without being sure and I don't really have the funds for a non-emergency non-routine vet apointment right now.

I want to adopt a young cat, but not a kitten for many reasons. We have a 4 year old, and we are all gone during the school day, plus the adult/nearly adult cats never get adopted. If he has been a stray before picked up by the shelter, what are the chances he'll maintain his spraying habits after being neutered? Thank you!

I live in Pennsylvania. I am moving to Colorado in a couple of months and my cat is coming with me. What is the best way to travel with him in the car? I think his carrier that I use for the vet is too small to be stuck in for a two day road trip. And what about a litter box in the car??

Earlier this year, my 8 year old brother bought a small fish tank at a garage sale - it is about 2-21/2 feet long, 11/2 feet tall, and maybe a foot deep, at most. I am not sure exactly how much it holds, but I know that it isn't much. For Christmas, we are hoping to get him some fish for it, but we aren't sure what to buy. He really wants Oscars, but this tank is just not big enough.

So my question is - what are some small fish that make good "tank buddies", and would be easy for an 8 year old to take care of? We do not want to get goldfish - I think he would be more interested in something a bit more unique. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

My 1 year-old Holland Lop loves to chew through wires... especially ones that are plugged in. I've bought him every toy in the book and he could care less about them. What kind of toy can I get him that would be similar to the rubber insulation of a wire, but isn't going to kill him?
