She has only done it once, so I'm not too worried. She went outside twice today... peed twice and pooped once, so she didn't throw up because she hasn't gone to the bathroom. She hasn't ate or drank much today (however that's not unusal because she usually eats during the evening) I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to soothe her stomach, I did an internet search and some people say to give her a treat and others say not to feed her for a few hours. If it happens again I'm going to call the vet, but there's really no use in calling the vet if she only did it once.

Her food is out all the time... she just always eats at night.

She's an 8 month old Lab/Shepherd mix.

She hasn't done it again.. and she's ate since the morning, so it was probably just her stomach being upset. But now I know just to keep an eye on her. (she's always got access to food and water, so when she feels like drinking and eating she'll do it.)

I usually look at it this way... do you want to eat after you throw up? Usually not. Leave her water out, and a small amount of food. Keep her calm and try not to let her run around or play too hard. If she's hungry, she has food and water.

Don't leave too much food out for her, but do provide her with ample water. It will keep her hydrated and cleanse out her system.

I do have one suggestion though. If you only feed your dog once a day, I would recommend you feeding her in the morning instead of at night. She burns the most calories, and thus need the most energy, during the day when she's awake (and even more so if she plays, runs around, or is active). Without food in her stomach, she won't have that source of energy (like when you might feel faint or lightheaded if you don't eat during the day). When you feed her at night, she spends majority of the 12 hours after eating sleeping. This is not efficiently using the energy/calories that she takes in and in some cases, makes the dog more prone to weight-gain.

Don't panic yet. She may just have an unset stomach. Everyone gets them. You didn't give her breed or age. If her stomach is empty give her a small snack and see if that settles her stomach.

Most people feed their dogs only once a day which means their stomach are employ most of the time and bile can sit there waiting. Larger breeds need to be fed small meals but 2 to 3 times a day. Their stomach have something to munch on and not "over loaded" once a day and empty the rest.

Keep an eye on her and see how she does. and if you have been feeding her only one time a day, try splitting up her food and see how she does.

My dog Died this past Tuesday, She would eat and drink as normal. she would go out side & throw up. She did this for three days. I did not know she was diong this because she would hide it from me. She was acting funny, not her normal self, but since she APPEARED to be eating & drinking she was not really that sick, just did not feel well. She did have arthritis that always bothered her but nothing seriouse. The night before she died, She threw up & hid it with her pillow when I was out of the room. Over night she threw up a few more times, or when she attempted to, nothing came out. But she was still drinking her water. She would some times throw up because she was always licking her paws & would get fur in her belly. This would happen every three weeks or so. But she always got over it. Since she was drinking her water we had been told in the past (By the vet) that she should be better in a day or so. She died in the morning. She had a bad heart & had been on medication 6 months earlier. she was over 11 years old. When she died, She waited untill I had went up stairs. I was not even gone for ten min.
I only fornd out that she was sick for five days was after I went out side & found that she had been throwing up on the side of my garage where I would not see it.

If your dos is sick more than 24 hours, I would take her to the vet. Even if she starts drinking her water But still throws up. She could have something really wrong with jer.

You could try giving her some chicken (boiled) and rice. Not too much at a time though. See how she does on that for a day. Just like us, they just get tummy aches every now an then.
