Don't be insulted, as you have found out cats can be fickle and snobby...we have two cats the one is sorta like that, you cannot hold her she pushes away from you and wants down but then she will meow for you to pet her just not hold her, and from time to time when she feels like your deserving of her presence she will jump into your lap for a minute then leave..very stuck up that girl...our male is a lap cat loves any attention. That's just the way cats are, some are little snobs and some are super cuddly...and yes they love to groom so maybe she just prefers to keep herself groomed any time her fur gets ruffled.

No, you shouldn't be insulted at all. Some cats are very particular about how their fur lays, and it's nothing personal against you if they straighten out their fur after being petted. You simply have a persnickety cat. :-)

N O, The cat is savoring your scent a little bit better. A cat is a very sensitive creature and also independent!

No, cats are hygeine freaks! However clean or dirty you are they will always do that. Mine are the same. It doesn't mean they don't like being stroked, it just means that they like to be spotless.
Don't take offense and don't get rid of your cat!

no dont be insulted lol. humans have a "smell" to them that only other animals can smell. And we also have a lot of oil on our skin so she is just trying to keep herself clean.

No way, the cat is an animal, operating by instincts

No. Humans have oils in their skin that the cat can detect, and she is probably not comfortable with them yet.
