As a name? Awesome, I've named a pet mouse Mouse before.. As a species, well you're only telling the truth. My Dad says a cousin called his dog Deefer. Said like 'D for dog' with 'd' and 'for' said together. :D

Dogs can't understand words so it doesn't matter (to test this, find something your dog really likes, like, say, "let's go for a ride!" and change the words but say it in the same way. "I'm gonna kill you!" will get the same happy reaction).

It doesn't matter, you won't be giving the dog a complex because he's being picked on at school.

Haha, I have a cat that I got when I was eleven. My parents named him James.
But, I didn't like it. He's white with big black spots, so..
I just call him Cow Cat.
