Over the last year, animal control has visited my house in Merced, California on complaints that my dogs are barking.
A new house had been built right on the back of my 1.3 acre home. And from the first day these guys moved in they have harrassed me in person and with animal control and sheriifs about my dogs. Im at home Tues- Saturday and they dont bark anymore than is normal for a dog. If they hear a noise they bark, like the lawnmower, somebody at the door etc. Shortly, Im going to have to go to court on this. During all the visits from animal control my dogs have been quiet but they say they are only messengers and cant testify. My other neighbors and our Vet our on our side. We've put bark collars and invisable fense collars on our dogs.

The animal control guy said in the other cases that get out of hand, the judge orders the removal of the animals......even though as ive said ..our dogs are not doing anything out of the ordinary.

Any ideas?

I was just curious. Im in Indiana and we've had plenty of snow this year already. Are my dogs safe from fleas in the winter or are they present all year round? Is it neccasarry to keep them on flea medication during the winter season?

Hi
I post an add for a maltese pup on Kijiji. I had someone response to me which her email is peternlisa" She said that the puppy will be shipped from Victoia Cameroon and she would want me to western union half the money and they I pay for the remaining balance when the puppy gets here. Is this a scam? Please let me know if there is another way to approach her about paying for the puppy after I received her to see how she would response. This person seems very nice and seems like a person you can trust. thank you

I never walk my dog. She gets plenty of exercise in other ways- daily trips to the dog park, training with the disc, romping in the yard ("omigosh SNOW!!!"), obedience training, and traveling everywhere with me.

We go hiking on the weekends. I suppose that would count as a walk. Other than that, very little "dog and human" on-leash walking occurs. Is anyone else in this situation? Does anyone think this is a bad thing?

my vet was! when i bought my heeler i took him straight to the vets for a check up, the first thing i was told was his eyes were not going to be protected from the sun and he would end up with skin cancer around his eyes, because he had no colour around them to be protected, the vet gave me heaps of info on the sun and my dog, tried to get me to buy this cream. the other thing he told me was his back legs were not straight enough, started to explain to me that he would need a operation to fix it. well i wasnt happy when i left so i went to another vet clinic and they told me not to worry about any of that, and that my dog would be fine. which he is and has been for 2 yrs. sometimes i think vets go a bit over board, or maybe they are like mechanics when women come in with their cars, and they try ripping you off cause your a female and have no idea bout cars.i put my full trust in my vet as i know nuthing about animal medicine. have you come across a bad vet?

she is a stray cat and have had her for approx 5 years. The other day i heard her meowing when she was going toilet. During the day she kept trying to urinate every 30 seconds. once she tries to go toilet, she then stops and starts panting. obviously i was going to take her to the vets but she soon fined up. yesterday she was fine (what i had seen of her) and was peeing well; there was no panting or cries of pain. this morning i woke up to her meowing. she was trying to go toilet again, and thats when i could see that her urine was like watered down blood. im going to make an appointment with the vet when ever i can, however this could be sometime next week. i need your advise to help suggest what could be wrong and how to keep her comfortable for the mean time. i will be much thankful. if there is any other information that you need to solve this, just add what you need to know in your comment and i will soon add notes underneath. thanks once again :)

I have always has saltwater tanks and I changed it to a fresh water tank about 4 month ago. This morning I turned on the light ans see these Snails with long pionty shells all over the sides of the tank. I thought thay where kind of cute. LOL But 15 mins later they all disapeared. I only have 4 fish in a 55 gallon. 2 butterfly tetras (i think) and 2 cory cats. Where did these snails come from? and why do the disapear after the light is turned on. Serious answers only please!

I just got my kitten back today after being neutered. He was cryptorchid (only one descended testicle) so it was more invasive than a normal neuter. He was at the vet for 2 nights after the surgery, and after being cooped up in a little cage, he's extra hyper.

How can I keep him calm? The vet said no running, stairs, or high levels of activity for 2 weeks - knowing my kitten, this seems highly impossible.

Also, he has a fairly sized incision, how do I keep him from licking it? Should I get one of those collars? He's already been through so much already, and I just want to keep him comfortable and healthy.

Any advice you have would be sincerely appreciated!! :)

I'm posting this question for my sister because I know NOTHING about rabbits...

I just called my sister and she said that she just got her rabbit spayed yesterday and the rabbit is not eating at all. I asked my sister if she called the vet and she said "yes", but she couldn't say anything after that because she was crying too hard. I feel really bad for her because she's worried about the rabbit - does anyone have any ideas??? Has this happened to anyone else? Do they sell vitamins for rabbits that we could bring to my sister to at least get some kind of nutrients into the rabbit?

I'm not sure if it matters but I don't know what kind of rabbit it is. She's about the size of a cat though and is a little over 1 year old.

My Puggle, Lexie, has destroyed everything from her own toys to my boyfriend"s DVDs! She spends most of her time in her kennel. When she's out she's usually good with supervision. She cannot be trusted alone. We've come home after a few hours to find puppy training pads and $100 worth of DVDs ripped apart. We thought she might have separation anxiety due her previous owners, I'm beginning to think she just likes destroying things because one night we left for about 5 hours. Lexie had been fed, played with, and walked along with our other dogs. We even put puppy beds in the kennels for everyone. Upon our return she had destroyed her puppy bed, shredded the foam consumed the zipper! That was the last straw. She has eaten through speaker wires by pulling them through the bars of her kennel. She also eats her own poop and other dog's poop.. Lexie pulls their poop from their kennel into hers! This is her last chance, we will have to get rid of her if this keeps up.

My 7 year old yorkie has internal bleeding. She had very thick, dark bloody diarehha. She did not suffer any injuries. The vet thinks it is either from parasites, or something she ate. She has gotten into the garbage numerous times, and has 2 times in the past 3 days, but we don't know what she ate exactly. She may have eaten something that had bleach sprayed on it, but we don't think so. She DID eat a lot of boneless chicken though, and maybe some aluminum foil, we're not sure. The vet knows all of this, and says we have to wait and see. The vet has her on an IV (for dehydration) and is sending her blood to the lab. Can the vet do anything to stop the bleeding? My dog seems fine. She is barking and running around.

I got my dog from the animal shelter about two and a half weeks ago, and he came with pneumonia. He's been on antibiotics and seems to be recovering. He barely coughs, eats a lot, but he still has a runny nose. He's REALLYYY dirty from being in the shelter, plus the fact that he is a cocker spaniel with somewhat longish hair. I haven't given him a bath yet because of the pneumonia, but now that he's recovering I'm just wondering if it's ok. If I did, I plan on putting a space heater in the bathroom and leaving it on before the bath and during, and blow drying him completely dry before letting him out of the heated bathroom. Just wondering if this is ok, or if i should just wait til he's completely better.
