Yes on both.

They start out on the bed at night but we put them in their beds when we are ready to go to sleep. Once in a blue moon they are allowed on the couch. One of our dogs does have his own chair...the other will just be happy laying on the floor right beside the couch me or my husband are laying on

No.

I have large dogs & they have plenty of shelter, food & water outside. They are guard dogs.

If I liked or had a small dog that may be a different story but I don't so no I do not allow them on the couch or the bed. I don't allow mine in the house.

I have a cat who sleeps anywhere she damned well pleases. Does that count?

I read not to let them on the furniture before I got my dog. Then the wife started letting him up on the couch and I thought ok, that's fine. We then started seeing some dominate things come from him, not aggressive, but dominate. Not that letting him on the couch was the problem, but it didn't help. We are now having to retrain him not to be on the couch.

Question is, am i aloud on the couch. My dogs own the couch. They all have their special spot on the couch. All my dogs sleep in my bed every night as well. Can you say my dogs are spoiled?

I let my dog on the couch, but only in on her blanket, and she always looks to me to be invited. I let her on my bed sometimes, but basically not because she sleeps in a crate in my room.

I think it's fine to let a dog on the couch as long as you have rules, and as long as the dog never shows signs of dominance. Your dog has to respect you and the privilege of being on the couch, and if he can't, he can't go on the couch. Some dogs just can't handle it!

The couch, no. My male will jump up and lay on my stomach if I'm on the couch, but technically he's on me, not the couch. The bed, yes.

Of course. My dog is a part of my family. Of course, it also helps that she's small and doesn't shed a lot. Now if I had a German Shepherd, I'd be less sure about the couch thing.

Of course, its their house too! I've got three dogs, all small breeds, and they all sit and doze on my sofa whenever they feel like it. At night the two eldest sleep at the end of my bed but my smallest, a tiny jack, sleeps IN the bed! He hates the cold and sleeps better if his face is covered. As i type he's beside me on the sofa, one's on the rocking chair and one's at my feet.

Yes I do! That is why I wake up with a back ache, because my dog is a bed hog, and I sleep on the edge!
