This morning when I opened the front door, my cat brought in a half eaten jackrabbit and dropped it at my feet. I of course freaked out and disposed of it. Is it safe for my cat to be eating these?

My kitten was adopted from a shelter about three weeks ago. At the time they estimated her age to be 5 weeks approximately. So now at approximately 8 weeks she weights 1.81 pounds. What should a kitten her age weigh in pounds? I don't understand grams and all the online weight charts I have seen post it in metrics.

I've "Inherited" two Male Betas. I am new to my area, and going on vacation for almost two weeks for the holidays. My friend, original owner of the fish, say to throw some algae pellets in the fish bowls, and that they'll be fine. I don't know anyone I can leave the fish with. How can I ensure that they survive while I'm gone? Is there a product that will release food ever so often? Silly question, I know, but I want to make sure they'll be alright while I'm gone. Thanks in advance for your help!

He is about 8 months old..I just noticed yesterday he had a lose stool, which is not too uncommon, but after that I noticed that he had been getting blood all over, like his butt is bleeding??? I am going to feed him some rice and hamburger to help with the lose stool but I am not concerned with that right now, I am more worried about why it looks as though his butt is bleeding, when he poops now there is blood but after he's pooped he gets blood on the carpet when he sits down and what not. He is otherwise acting very normal and energetic and eating normal, and drinking water like normal. What is wrong???

I found a starving cat outside my house four years ago. She is now a loving, beautiful, playful house cat, and I love her dearly. Me and my husband recently have noticed that her breath was really starting to go bad. I took her to the vet and the vet saw that her back teeth were extremely rotten and will need to be extracted.

I want to take the best care of my cats and I will pay to get this surgery, but I worry she won't know that this is for her own good. Will my cat hate me forever for putting her through this?

I had never heard of this situation before but after hours reading & studying it, now I know it well. Our vet told us to take the puppies away from our nursing mom immediately, but I'm reading that we can supplement the milk to them, drastically reduce the nursing time permitted , try to wean them asap, and most important, adjust her diet. Does anybody have any experience with this situation ??? I realize now that the vet couldn't spend 6 hours to teach us all that we didn't know when we took our dog in to him, but now we do know and I wonder what experienced breeders do
in this situation. Do they return the pups after stabilizing the dog and correcting what caused this in the first place ?
I know now that it was diet and a predisposition of small dogs to encounter this startling and dangerous situation.
It is terrifying, I drove to the vet thinking we might lose our dog and I drove like a mad woman James Bond. So, now, can we safely return the puppies for minimal nursing ?

My 9 year old cat has been gaining a lot of weight. I am very sure she isn't pregnant, her nipples aren't getting bigger, she hasn't been outside in at least 4 months, and we had the male cat here neutered about one and a half months ago..he was 5 months old when he got neutered.

She's just gotten fatter. She is still eating (no more nor less then usual) and playing like normal, and is still her happy self.

Any ideas why she's getting fat?

I don't want any talk on "Oh you should get her fixed!" I have plans to, after the holiday season is over. I'll have more money then.

My cat will not eat any 'chunks' in wet food (though she will eat dry food). The only food I've found that she'll eat is Meow Mix Tuna & Shrimp because it's kind of soupy and the tuna is very shredded, but still she'll leave any chunks to go bad.

Does anyone know of any other foods that have very small pieces and lots of gravy (almost like a pureed stew)? If so, I need the brand and particular kind (ie tuna).

Thanks!

Like, if the pups were around 3 weeks old. Or is just better to wait until they are done nursing? She could atleast practice non-strenuous obedience though, right? I don't want her to get too far behind or forget too much.

This dog would be about six weeks along. Would the vet be able to check by just palpatating? If they did an ultrasound, what is the average cost and can it tell how many pups by six weeks? If we tried to palpatate, where do you feel and could you hurt the pups by just gently feeling???

A few days ago my dog's face got very swollen. His jowls and eyes mostly. I immediately took him to the vet and she gave him benadryl, which helped. Niether of us knew a cause. It happened again last night and I gave him benadryl, which didn't help much. I called her and she said keep an eye on him, but she still has no idea what could cause it. This morning, it happened again after I took him outside, so bad that one of his eyes was swelled shut.
I don't know what to do. I noticed it happens after I take him out to use the restroom, for the most part. I live in an apartment complex so I was thinking of asking the manager what pesticides or fertilizers they use around here. If the vet has no idea what is going on, how can I help my poor dog?

When we first got him he would go right into his crate and go to sleep. Now he hates it. At night he screams until he falls asleep and during the day he won't go anywhere near it. I have a dog bag for him and he loves that he goes right into it and falls asleep. I have put treats in the crates he won't wont go in. Any suggestions on how to let him know that the crate is a good thing. I have never punished him and put him in the crate. I was off this week so he only went in at night time. Maybe when I go back to work he may get used to it? I would leave the door open, but I am afraid he will chew my kitchen cabinets.

My 8 month old cat began squinting this morning. He and his brother play rough, so I assumed it had gotten scratched in play. Since he is a very dark cat with dark eyes, it's hard to see much. I did notice that his eye is a bit watery, and perhaps a little bit of a white (pus?) discharge in a very small amount is leaking out of the inner corner of his eye.

The vet isn't open yet, so I thought I'd get some answers on here. How do I know if this is an eye infection or a scratch? What can I do to help heal it? Thanks ahead of time for your answers! =)

So yesterday I posted a fun lil question asking if anyone had ever heard of Matt Morellie and attached a link. Now Matt Morellie is a guyy who trains his pet moose to do tricks. I thought it was neat b/c he had the moose in a horse harness and pulling logs. Well YA deleted my question saying it was not a question or answer. To my knowledge when you put "EVER HEARD OF MATT MORELLIE???" and make sure it has a question mark after it then it is a question... what gives. I didn't get to ready any answers and apaprently I had 13
