I've been feeding my dog Innova EVO small bites and started to include a poached egg mixed in with the kibble and today my dog has diarrhea. What is the best canned food to feed him while he has diarrhea; is there anything better on the market than Hill's Prescription Diet i/d?

We got a miniture schnauzer about 2 months ago, she seems like such a sweet dog, but now she always barks and grawls at everyone. And when my baby tries to go to her she jumps and scratches him everytime. Is she a trainable dog? My husband thinks she is dumb. I have been trying to work with her, by teaching her to sit, stay, and to settle down but she just doesnt seem to want to learn. Did I get a bad dog?

I am a dog person but found an article about these cats. I didn't realize that there are 'designer cats' like there are dogs. My foolishness, but there are cat people, dog people and the people that love both:)

http://www.lifestylepets.com/cats.html

If you click on the bottom 'click here to order' they also have other cats mixes for sale.

I know that dog people don't like the new 'designer dogs' that are out there and just wanted your thoughts. Do you know anyone that has a cat like this? Would you spend this much money on a cat when there are so many beautiful kittens/cats up for adoption at shelters?

Wouldn't their claws tear up your furniture, not to mention the size of their body and teeth!! I think my dogs would run from them:)

Anyway, just wanted your thoughts

OK, so I used to have another user name, I've been around here for a year...I have noticed a "tendency" for some honest and truthful answers to get "thumbs down". Like someone pointing out that an animal is in fact an animal and not a furry 4 legged human. Is it because the poeple here believe their dogs deserve to be treated as an equal or are they just upset someone is reminding them of the facts that don't support their views? I think from my experience here that 80% of users in this section are a little "off" when it comes to understanding animal behavior, needs, instinct and abilities. The "top contributors" and users like "Rachael, Pit Police Captain" seem to be truly intelligent responsible pet owners, so I'm not on a "bashing" mission here.

Please tell me if you feel when the majority of users in this section are rating and reporting based on personal feelings, fact or simply out to remove someone they disagree with.

Our Bull Terrier b*tch was x-rayed yesterday and needed an ultrasound to determine if she was truly pregnant or having a false pregnancy. One puppy was found on the ultrasound. In past experiences we have found b*tches often do not go into labor on their own when having a singleton. What day of her pregnancy do we do the section? Thanks-

Kittens seem to be getting sick, weepy eyes and eye problems, etc. Some breeders make you agree not to use them. Others have had kittens that seem to react badly to them with lasting consequences.

Right now my fiance and I live on a friends family country road and have been her for over a year. Its a long gravel road far from the highway with only his family along either side. Everyone here lets their pets outside, they all get along fine and because of this everyone takes extra special caution to watch out when driving down the road. Now we are about to buy a house that is right on a main road, and as of now with no fence. We have 4 cats. They have all been inside/outside for the past year and love it. They never venture of far here, usually you can find them lounging on the steps and they know they have to come in for food and they somtimes use the litter box if they are in. I only have a few ideas for after the move. The best I came up with is slowly bringing them inside more now. Then after the move screening in the porch so they have have a mock-outside and taking leashed walks. There is an extra bed we could also have cat friendly plants in with big windows. Any other ideas

I was pondering...If you have two dogs both are two years old and grew up together, if you send one to obediance training and not the other, would the trained dog influence the untrained dog or vice versa?

I would definitely send both, but I was just curious.

First and foremost, let me say this. These are not my horses and I am not advertising them for sale nor am I buying any of them. Thank you to whoever reported this as me advertising. The question posted is not about buying or selling. My question is: Which of these horses would be the better stallion prospect? Since I see this all the time about how cool owning a stallion is, should I get a stallion as my first horse, should I breed my stallion, etc. I decided to let everyone here look at several horses and list the good and bad points and maybe open a few eyes about what is and is not stallion material.

The gray horse is listed as having points in multiple AQHA events and a World class pedigree and a great disposistion.

The big sorrel & white overo is listed as having points in halter, color, roping and western pleasure in APHA out of a World Champ sire

OK - I got my answer on the name of that dog nutrition supplement (Missing Link), now I have a related question.

At what age do you recomment a dog start taking them to have an effect on physical issues (such as arthritis)? My pup is only a year and a half, and her trainer said two years old. Any idea?

I have to have hard flooring because I use a wheelchair. I am just completing my new home with heated concrete floors with tile in most of the house and wood in the bedrooms. I tried to pick coarse textures so he gets grip in order to stand up and the Bruce wood says it is designed for dogs traction. He sleeps on the couch, or my bed, and our old house had cement with hardwood but it wasnt heated and it being hard didnt seem to bother him. Could the consistent warmth help his aching joints as it seems to help mine? Yesterday we were there and I turned the thermostat up from 60 to 65 which would ,I am told, start ciculating water that is 10 degrees higher than the what the thermostat is calling for until it reaches the desired temp. It seemed that he started panting shortly after that. Now it may have just been a normal thing but it got me wondering. I have been told that some people have a problem with this type of heat making their feet sweat. Anyone have any experience with this?

In a recent post I made, I believe I received a thumbs down because I mentioned our Anatolian spends most of her time outdoors... There is nothing more beautiful to me than a dog that can and does perform the job it was bred for. We raise horses and it always amazes me how gentle this 120lb girl is with new foals. When they are sleeping on the ground she is nearby watching and protecting. She enjoys her job and our horses trust her.
We believe that a dog should be able to do what it was bred for.. We compete in Schutzhund with our German Shepherds and our Ibizans we show in conformation as well as run out in the field as often as possible....coursing it our next activity we hope to join in.

My question is...what are your feelings when it comes to a flock guardian living with the flock... or a working dog being trained in Schutzhund... or a cart dog being taught to pull....
do you think a dog should be able to perform the task it was bred for? Do you think they enjoy it?

I do

What is the most unusual breed that an owner has brought to you?
I mean, (not a real breed) a made up or name for a breed by the breeder or pet store.

I met someone yesterday that told me her dog was a 'teacut cavalier pomeranian'
When she told me this, I knew that she had been scammed.

I'm curious about other 'breeds'

Also, when someone tells you this do you inform them?
What do you say or do? (as a groomer or other animal worker)
Just wondering how others handle this situation.

When I worked at one of the vets here (been a few years ago)
We were informed by the vet, that as his staff we were to put down on the chart exactly what the owner called the breed.

He said if it looked like a rottweiler and the owner said it was a chihuahua....then that MADE IT a chihuahua.

I am thinking about opening a pet store. I think it would be cool to model it after a house. This is what I would do:

Bedroom 1 - Large Puppies

Bedroom 2 - Small Puppies

Bedroom 3 - Cats

Bedroom 4 - Rodents

Living Room - Where products are sold

Family Room - Where families that are interested in the puppies can see take them out of the room and play with them in here.

Kitchen and Dining Room - puppies food is made and eaten.

Basement - Vet

I would keep all the puppies and cats free to walk around the there rooms. There would be no crates. I also would take them in the fenced in backyard to go to the bathroom and play. The doors would be glass so the people could see in the room. I WOULDN'T buy from puppy mills. Instead, I would buy from great breeders that don't breed to make money. Would you buy from here? Why or why not?

I have a yellow lab that's 8 months old. When I need to leave the house for extended periods I put him in the kitchen behind a childs gate. I have a dog run outside but I'm a bit nervous that he'll decide he wants to escape one day, although he hasn't ever tried. When I come home it's not unusual to find things that were on the counter down on the ground. I've tried to put him in there while I'm home to catch him in the act, but he's pretty slick and waits for me to walk out of the line of sight before he strikes. He's even managed to get a pot out of the sink, he's good, I'll give him that much :)

The first thing I did was move everything off the counters, but if something's left, it's fair game for him. I sometimes find him grabbing things off my workbench in the garage too and taking them outside to play.

I've give him plenty of toy and bone options to play with but I think for him it's a game and a challenge to get to the things up high.

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.

Our family cat has had a small boil, looks like a blister but isn't on his lip for about I think two weeks now & it bothers him sometimes. How can I treat it from getting worse without going to the vet?

I've heard cats are prone to absesses. Is this true also?

Thank you in advance.

We have a ferret who is 9 years old. She was taken to the vet a year ago and he found nothing wrong with her. At that time she had lost weight and fur on her tail but was eating well and moving well. She has gone downhill since then. She is now at this point: she does not use her littler box(she's in a cage that is 9x9), stumbles around frequently, when she urinates she drinks it despite her full bottle of fresh water which she will also drink, and sleeps a lot but lately she's up and down a lot. This morning I found blood on the newpaper in her cage. I have debated euthanasia for months now and wonder if today is the day. Any suggestions and any thoughts as to her ailment?

PS We used to take her out to play a lot before she became incontinent.
