I feed mine after my own dinner - after I started doing this she did become more respectful at mealtimes, so I think it does work.

Some breeds are prone to bloating if they run or exercise too heavily after eating. It's a good idea to keep a dog quiet after they eat. I had a dog bloat once and it was very scary.
Now my dogs are fed half an hour or so before bedtime. They eat, they go outside for a final potty break, I get ready for bed, then we go to bed. I read for a little while and the dogs take some time to settle down. But at least they're quiet for the night and I don't have to worry about bloating.
They also tend to go poop when I take them out first thing in the morning since the food has had time to get through their system. Much easier to live with them when they're on a schedule like that.

depends on the dog, the size of the dog, the dog's need and whether the dog's weight is/is not stable.
for increasing weight, 2x/day and I feed those meals about 12 hours apart.
for decreasing weight, 2x/day (less food) about 12 hours apart.
puppies (depending on age) 3-4 times / day.
small dogs, 2x/day, 12 hours apart
bloat-prone dogs 2-3x/day and NO exercise for 1.5 hours afterwards other than potty trips.
Many feed their dogs only once/day. That works for some, but I tend to give all dogs 2x/day feedings, even if the evening meal is a small amount.
I really think it depends on the individual dog.

I don't it really matter what time you feed your dog as long as you feed your dogs at about the same time every day. Some people thing that the best time to feed a dog is after they've had a long walk. It mimics them having to work and food is the reward, much like a wolf has to work (hunt) to earn it's food.

It doesnt really matter what time you feed your dog but due to his breed you should make sure he is not fed 1 hour before or after a long walk as they can be prone to GDV's. Normally best to feed just after you eat and then let him rest for a hour before walking.

If it is a puppy, four times a day, 8,12,4&8.
Gradually reduce it to three, then two, then one.
I tend to feed my adult dogs in the morning. for several reasons:
1. they are not hungry all day
2. it doesnt matter if you are late home from work one night as they will not be waiting on you.
3. they have all day to digest the food and work it off, rather than store it as fat overnight.
4. it prevents the need for the dog to have to go for a poo last thing at night.

when ever you feel like it. a dog isnt a baby . it depends also on how old the dog is a puppy needs to eat more than just once in the evening and an older dog might need to have one meal split between two different times.

i also have a gsd. He gets fed every evening at 4.30. I feed him then as he gets his walk around 7.00 so this gives his tea time to settle before walking. The feeding time though will depend on your routine, as long as you give him time for his tea to digest a bit before you walk him. good luck
