OK - I got my answer on the name of that dog nutrition supplement (Missing Link), now I have a related question.

At what age do you recomment a dog start taking them to have an effect on physical issues (such as arthritis)? My pup is only a year and a half, and her trainer said two years old. Any idea?

a vet tech told me she has a great dane and started him on glucosomine pills when he was 1 year old. So i think the larger your dog is the sooner you can start giving joint medicine to help her when she's a senior. But if you trust your vet, I'd always ask the vet before doing anything with pills. My vet told me PetTabs was the best supplement otc because the body absorbs the most from that brand. If your trainer is from a holistic pet shop or something, theyre good and holistic care is a good thing but not to trust 100%. Like one trainer who owns a holistic petstore told me give my dog some enzyme powder to help him digest better, that later my vet told me was causing his diarrhea and only supposed to be for pancreatic dogs. I just wanted to warn you never to take just one persons advice even if theyre an expert.

I start my Newfs on a Glucosamine?Chondroition supplement at 12 weeks. They are on it for life. By two, the bone and joint structure is already set. If in theory, you are trying to PREVENT issues, that needs to begin during the growth process.

My vets (regular and holistic) suggested that it is all dependant on my lil fellas needs. They actually started him on his supplements at 6 months.
