I think these cats are BEAUTIFUL. I've always wanted a leopard and that is the closest thing to it, but the money is OUTRAGEOUS. And, I think it is horrible to breed a cat specifically to just show it off. I would want to buy one so I could give it a normal life and not breed it like these people do like it's some friggen factory line.
They are beautiful creatures, but I don't know if I could trust their personalities. They could be sweet, but if you piss them off, watch out. Haha.

Personally, I won't plunk down money for a cat reguardless of if it's from a breeder or a shelter. I pulled mine out of a bucket of motor oil he had fallen in, otherwise he'd be a barn cat (or eagle food) right now. I love my little demon kitty but prefer the dogs..
Personal preferences aside.. This is just as bad as designer dogs. There are already too many pets in the world. A well bred animal is one thing but to purposely start mixing this with that to come up with something new? Creates a whole lot of excess kittens/puppies when there are already thousands dying in the shelters.

I think that they are very pretty, but agree that it is silly to "design" a cat...not to mention spend that much money on one, when there are way to many cats in the shelter.
However, I feel like a hypocrite sometimes b/c I do have a pure bred dog (vs. getting a shelter dog). I really wanted a pug b/c of personality, appearance, etc...all of my cats (3) were shelter/rescue cats though.
I don't know...is there a difference between getting a pure bred dog and one of these fancy-shmancy designer cats? I don't know. I do know that even if I had the $$ I would stick to a human society/rescue cat.

There's no way I'd pay that much for a cat when there are so many at shelters that need a good home!!! Instead of spending all the time, energy & money on a "new" cat breed, why not take care of the ones we already have out there????

I suppose if you're loaded with cash, you might get one just to show you can afford to. Otherwise, I don't know why on Earth anyone would want that expensive of an animal. I was looking at Bengals and Ocicats when I was deciding on getting a cat in the past month, and I didn't even want to pay $500 for one. Instead, I adopted an adorable little mixed breed kitty for a whopping $25, and I'm quite pleased with the choice.

No I wouldn't pay a lot of money for a cat like that. Some of the best cats/dogs I've had have been really ugly. Those kind of cats though could probably have me for dinner and my dog most definitely wouldn't want to be friends he's a coward. I think it'd be cruel to keep that size of cat indoors for a start..

Well, the 2 on the end look like wild cats. They would definitely scare my cats and probably my dog too!!
I just don't know why people would spend all that money on 1 cat. Just imagine how much good that money would do for soo many unwanted, sheltered pets.

I have read alot of designer cats, about these "scientists/breeders" trying to make domestic cats look more like wild cats by crossbreeding them with actual wild cats, but trying to only breed the tame ones.THIS IS HOW GENETIC DISORDERS OCCUR! Like springer spaniels, bred and bred to only have the tamest traits, and now they are doomed to have a gene that makes them prone to epilepsy. Not to mention the fact that that shelters receive over 10 million animals annually. More than half must be euthanized, most are under 18 months of age, and 90 percent are healthy and adoptable. The more popular exotic cats become, the more unwanted strays and euthanized cats there will be.
I think its despicable. And id never support anyone who does that by buying one.

Not in a million years would I support paying that kind of money for a cat when there are so many euthanized each year at shelters.
I am not a fan of designer dogs either.

I would love to have one, but until I win the lottery it's a moot point.
One advantage to these overpriced kitties is that those who have enough money to buy them are unlikely to let them run about or abandon them, like so many cat owners do, which of course contributes to the stray cat population.
Now, if I did win the lottery I'd also (or probably instead) operate my own cat shelter, not to mention possibly adopting even more furbabies.
