Ok so I have a male and female russian tortoise (had male for a year or more and the female for about 5 months or so) they live now in a 4' 8' tortoise table. What I really need is some tips about breeding them. Since they are indoor tortoises and aren't exposed to the changes of the season or hibernation I need to know anything that will help them mate. Any tips will be appriceated. Thanks

Her toes are all swolen. My rats are both females and they are young. I'm not sure how young though. They have a three level cage, lots of room for them to run around. I feed them Nutraphase Gold. One of the rats (the smaller one) is a hairless dumbo and the bigger one is a rex. I have noticed that the only time the big one bites the little ones toes is when she is on one of the upper levels and the big one crawls up under where she is standing and bites her toes that are stcking through. They seem to get along fine. I would also like to know what kind of things to put on the wounds.

I am kind of tight on my budget now, but could easily afford a FO tank, but not the $750 for live rock for a FOWLR set up. So my question is could I convert a FO tank to a FOWLR tank while keeping fish in the tank, and not restarting the nitrogen, ammonia, etc. cycles. Thank You!

OK, my family just got a new Siamese kitten a month or so ago, and we just discovered that he has fleas. (or at least I think they are fleas--they're small, black, and were crawling in the fur by the top of his head) I don't understand how he has fleas because he has never been allowed outside of the house before, and we checked the other cat (who is allowed outside) and he is completely flea-free. This new kitten, however, has recently been catching mice in the unfinished part of our basement, something the other cat has never done, so I'm wondering if he somehow got the fleas from these mice.
Only, I read online that mice don't get fleas they get mites, and if so what's the difference? I read something else that if mice do have fleas, the fleas are really dangerous and can pass on diseases to not only cats but humans. Can anyone help me out???
I sort of have a phobia of lice and fleas and things like that, so I'm really freaking out and would appreciate any help.

If you were going to adopt a cat from a rescue group, would a $100 adoption fee seem a lot if the cat comes already fixed, vaccinated, tested for disease, and all up to date on vet care?

I am trying to get my puppies to eat solid food. Is there any technique you recommend for doing this? Right now I'm crushing the food up, so they can eat it.

I have an 8 month old lab and frankly his activity level and strength greatly out match me. When he gets bored he is very distructive and I know that exercise is the key. Last night he kept running up and down our stairs. They make a "V" one up one down, there are about 14 of them total with a landing between them. Since he was playing on them I blocked off both entrances and played fetch with him up and down them for about 30 minutes last night. He loved it and its the very first time I've been able to wear him out. I do know that dogs his breed and size are prone to hip displyshia though so I dont want to do anything harmful to him but if this is an ok exercise then I just might have solved his boredom and my ability to manage him. Does anyone know if constant stair climbing is potentially a bad thing? Thanks!

I have a vertical 60 gallon fish tank about 2ft away from my bed and its about 5 years old. No leaks but I worry sometimes that it will just break or bust open one of these days. How long are fish tanks usually good for?

Look at some of these videos... Apparently some of these dogs aren't normal, but what's with the tongues hanging out? Why and how do they stay like that? Wouldn't the tongue get extremely dried out? Does anybody know what's going on with that?

My guinea pig recently died, and I was very sad. Mornings just aren't the same anymore without him squeeking up a storm.

I want something else now, but not a guinea pig because of their high maintenance. I want something with life in it, not a bird, hamster, reptile etc. But I can't think of something that I can bond to that doesn't require a lot of maintenance. Can someone please give me some suggestions?

I have a baby bearded dragon. I have his tank in the middle of the room on the island between the kitchen and tv room because everything I've read says they should be in the mix of things. I have the dragon in a 75 gal tank. Right next to it I have a 10 gal aquarium with fish in it that I had to seperate from my 55 gal aquarium. When I say right next to it I mean right next to it. My question is should I put a back drop between the tanks. The reason I ask is because he sits there for hours up on his hind legs with his fronts up on the glass just staring into the fish tank. Now and again he scratches on the glass like he is trying to get to them. The fish (Convicts) have babies so when he does this they swim over to "protect" there kids. It appears my bd is obsessing. Do ya'll think this is the case and I should put something between the tanks or do you think this is great entertainment for the bd and all is well.

I am moving my pet rabbit from downstairs in the garage up to my room. I have heard that rabbits could die if you changed there surroundings. Is it true?

Our little lab mix puppy seems to be whining constantly:

- when we put her in the crate (She LOVES her crate and goes in on her own) and leave the room and don't pay attention to her
We know she wants attention when she's in the crate, but we do have places to go and we need to be able to leave her inside for an hour or two. We give her a toy to chew on and stand by the crate for a minute, but when we start to walk away, she starts whining again. IGNORING HER DOESN'T WORK FOR US. She will only start barking, and we had heard enough after five minutes of howling. How can we get her to console herself without us having to stay with her until she falls asleep?

- when we are eating at the table (she eats near us, but when she's finished with her food she'll start whining and getting restless)
We tried bringing her out to go potty, but after she finishes buisness she just runs around. We give her a chew toy when she is finished, but she leaves it and gets back to whining. CONT

For well over a month now, I've found live fleas and flea fecal matter on my dog. I bathed her a few weeks ago and flea medicine down her shoulder blades to her back, but the bugs are still all over her legs and belly. About a week ago I got a flea collar for her, but the parasites are still there.

I'm about to wash her again, but I don't know if it will make any difference. She's rarely in contact with other dogs, so I can't figure out why they keep appearing.

How do I get rid of them once and for all?
