Don't bomb the house! Get your money back for that stupid stuff, because it isn't going to work. Pet stores aren't licensed to sell the proper chemicals for flea treatment - anything you find in store is just going to be a basic pesticide that you can't expect to work.

You don't need to get the cat out the house, you can get a decent spray from a vets that you won't have to evacuate the whole house to use. Plus it will actually work.

Yes, veterinary flea treatments work, they're the only ones that do. They're not 'dips' they're spot-ons - drops that go on the skin of the back of the animal's neck. They then spread throughout the entire skin and keep the animal protected for at least a month. They are Frontline, Revolution, Advantage and Advocate - go and choose one.

A flea dip is only a temporary solution, and it will not kill eggs. It will only kill some of the fleas on the cat, and eggs will still hatch out, and any stray fleas in your house will just jump right back on him. They are pretty much a waste of money, and stressful for your cat. You need a long term flea control such as Advantage or Frontline which gets applied to the cat once a month. Fleas are NO reason to get rid of a cat. Especially when there are such easy effective flea medications available out there. If something as simple as fleas is a good enough reason for you to get rid of your cat..you may not be a good candidate to be a pet owner.

Hello Moonpig. you probably won't get rid of all the eggs of what ever the cat laid on, by sticking it in the washer. You need to make sure that what you see on the mat was flea eggs, and not tape worm which look like little grains of rice. I do not recommend bathing a cat as this can be very stressful and will not kill fleas. I recommend that you buy the proper flea remedy. You can buy a spot on flea treatment from Wilkinson's stores. It cost £2.99 for a card of two tubes, that's two months treatment. Put one tube on the back of the cats neck to kill the fleas and repeat this in one month and this will kill any eggs that have hatched. You should always worm the cat that has a bad infestation of fleas as there is a flea/worm life circle. you can obtain a worming tablet from your vet. I would purchase a flea spray to treat areas of the home where you suspect there aer fleas. You can also obtain a spot on flea treatment from your vet called Advantage or Frontline. This are rather expensive and I found that Wilkinson's works just as well. Good luck.

never use a dog flea product on a cat, it can kill it.

dips are of no real benefit & don't offer any residuial action - so after fighting with & terrorizing your cat in water you will have gained nothing.

get capstar from your vet - that will kill all that are on it within a half hour - you can give a second dose if needed. then put the cat on a monthly flea preventative

when you bomb the house everyone must leave for several hours even the fish.

I hope you aren't using some cheap stuff from WM

most vets do not do flea dips any longer as they can be dangerous. Most vets would recommend a monthly flea product applied to the cat. Advantage or Revolution or Frontline are 3 vet approved products that work well. Ask your vet about how to get rid of the fleas

do not get a flea dip, vet offices carry a pill called capstar that will fleas on the cat and then follow up with a application of frontline. be sure to vaccum up the house and dispose of vaccum bag outside of the house, fleas can reproduce in the bag and start all over again. Good Luck!

we dont do dips where i work so i'm not sure if that will work well. perhaps they could stay at the vet for a couple days and put frontline plus on them which kills fleas and the eggs in 24-48 hours......frontline is a great product, never heard any complaints.
