I have a friend and she likes to put Pam on her hamster wheel to stop it from squeaking. I don't know that much about the cooking oil but I do know that some subtances that are okay for us are poisonous to hamsters. Her hamster is addicted to the cooking spray and I'm worried about him. He always licks it off when she puts on she thinks nothing of saying: "Oh, hamsters won't get poisoned from cooking oil, you're a worry wart" I just want to know if I am worrying unnessecarily.

The pet shop said that he had mites in the past and had been treated. I presumed that the strange growths were scars but after finding this site with a picture that exactly matched my rat,

http://www.xs4all.nl/~tirion/Medical.html

i have realised that he has something called sarcoptic mites. Does anybody know anything about these? I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow, what sort of treatment will he get?
The page i read says that the mites can pass to himans which worried me too.

i have a 55 gallon fish tank...

4 weeks in now .. i put cycle in my tank to add some good bacteria and a great antibiotic to help keep diseases and fungi down but also to keep health high and fin growth strong..

i feel good about my fish because i know they are happy, you can see it by the way they swim and because they don't run scared when some one taps the glass!

i have 8 red platy's
and 2 dwarf Gouramis

i want 2 more dwarf gouramis is that a problem|?
that would be a total of 4 in one 55 gallon...

i know they are territorial, but dwarfs are not as territorial and not as aggressive, can anyone tell me from there experience if having four dwarf Gourmise will be a bad idea and how many can i have!

the health is obviously most important but also there stress level is a main concern..

please give me a heads up ... i am still learning ! NUBE

I never grew up with animals, so I don't know what to do with them. My grandmas bought this little yappy lapdog last weekend and I pet it and accidentally ripped its fur. I don't know how I did it, but it got a pretty mean cut on it and it has stitches now. I also did this to a cat when I was younger, like 16.

Buck is my german shepherd and we've been trying to get him to go swimming in my best friends pool. He needed the exercise and it was also a good way for him to be watched when we were swimming. Buck would only get in the pool when he fell in after reaching for his floating tennis ball or when dropped in by us. After he's in we lift him up and support him as he swims to one of the steps and gets out. We made sure he was in no danger of getting hurt or drowning, and he's in great medical condition so no problems with his joints, and when he gets in he swims pretty good. I wanted to know just a way we can make this more fun and encourage him more. We are going to try treats for when he gets in the water and swims to us but we wanted to know if any one else had gotten their dog to do this?

I have a baby Biorb with 2 goldfish just small pet shop ones for the kids. How much should I be feeding them and how often? I have managed to kill 3 so far and a friend told me I was probably overfeeding, I gave a pinch or so a day and she recommended feeding every other day. But they look so hungry all the time, they have a real feeding frenzy when I do feed them a couple of pinches. What would you recommend?

White said he does not support dogfighting and that he considers it as bad as hunting.

"His crime is, it was a dog," White said.

No, his crime was that he was funding and participating in an inhumane crime of dog fighting, as well as cruelty to animals.

Unless you eat canines, I do not see how drowning, hanging, choking or shooting a dog in cold blood is "like" hunting. Most sportsmen (Hunters, fishermen, trappers, etc) have a dog also as a companion, and is treated like part of the family.

Think first, Mr. White, prior to saying something profoundly stupid.

so heres what happened
i have a dog thats i breed pups for dog fighting with. a pitbull, if you must know. a few months ago my and my room mates thought it would be really cool if she had nipple piercings. so we gave her some "stuff" to make her sleep. well, after we pierced the nipples she began going int still out cold. luckily they all came out fine despite her being so doped up. nows where it gets tricky. these puppies need to feed, and we've pierced all of mommy's nipples. we removed them, but now she is not lactating at all. all of the pups keep competing to get milk, but there is none. 2 of them got in one little fight and their mom got scared and said your moving with your auntie and uncle in belair. i whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and had a dice in the mirror. if anything i could say that this cab was rare but i thought man forget it. yo home to belair.

I have a question about my fish fry. Firstly...I have 15 and more on the way (proud mum!) but they are in a tank with eggs which werent fertilised.
How do i know if those eggs will be fungusy, some of them are grey?!?
Also, from when can i start feeding them if they hatch on different days?
When should i start changing the water?
How long until they are travel worthy?
I have shubunkins.
Iv tried to look it up but i dont get much though google!
Also, what would people reccomend to make the tank look nicer in the main tank?
Its bare at the moment cuz i had flourescent gravel and the fish went gaga so im not sure what to do.
Also i had water cress sold to me by the store which was rubbish, what plants do you reccomend that arnt going to rot in the water like mine did?
I live in the UK so advise about decent stores would be good.! Thanks

3 months ago a neighbor asked me to watch his female pit bull for a weekend (knowing I have 1 myself) and that Monday I realized he had moved. I've housed her and fed her and LOVED her. However, I don't have the time, energy or funds to maintain two dogs. I don't want to turn her over to the pound and I've made a few calls and there is no local rescue center for Pit bulls in my area (20109- VA). Can anyone give me some guidance?

I have had a cat for a nearly a year. At first it was rather cute but then a couple of months ago it just started to become a real pain. Scratching the furniture and peeing all over the place.

Yesterday, I watched it as it peed into my panty drawer and finally had it.

I had to take it to the vet and get rid of it. Just could not handle it anymore.

Today, I am a little emotional about the whole thing and torn if I did the right thing...

Ladies have you ever had to get rid of an animal cos you just can't take it anymore?

Sorry guys but I really don't need to hear how much you hate your girls cat

We're going through a lot of household changes (got rid of our big dog, painting rooms, moving things around) to prepare for our first child due in a few months, and coincidentally, at the same time our dog has decided she doesn't really like to eat. Could it be that she's stressed out by all the changes?
