I have had a cat for a nearly a year. At first it was rather cute but then a couple of months ago it just started to become a real pain. Scratching the furniture and peeing all over the place.
Yesterday, I watched it as it peed into my panty drawer and finally had it.
I had to take it to the vet and get rid of it. Just could not handle it anymore.
Today, I am a little emotional about the whole thing and torn if I did the right thing...
Ladies have you ever had to get rid of an animal cos you just can't take it anymore?
Sorry guys but I really don't need to hear how much you hate your girls cat

Sorry for not being clear. I had it put to sleep.
The panties just did it for me.

do you mean you put it to sleep?? If so then no I dont think that was the right desicion, however if you meant that you just gave it away then yes, you couldn't really put up with the cat, and its better that you juss gave it away then have it at home not loving it lol....dont feel so bad I think you did the right thing

Shame on you!!! Animals are a life long commitment and can't be killed or dumped when they don't suit you anymore. There are many ways you could have fixed the problems, neither scratching the furniture or peeing is a reason to kill your cat. Ever think that maybe there was a medical reason, like a bladder infection that may have caused her to pee everywhere? Did you take her to the vet to have that looked at? I'm guessing no, because you obviously didn't care enough to take her to the vet.
And the scratching is easily stopped by using a squirt bottle filled with water and squirting the cat in the face when you catch them, they stop pretty quick after that.
People like you shouldn't have animals, if you are not prepared to commit to an animal for the rest of their life, no matter what problems may come along, you don't deserve to have the love and companionship from an animal.
You should feel very guilty about killing a perfectly innocent animal for no better reason than your own selfishness.

Had you even bothered to get the cat checked by the vet to see WHY the cat was peeing in the house. This is a typical symptom of a bladder or urinary tract infection. Did you have plenty of scratching posts for her...had you ever applied "soft paws" or tried to solve the scratching issue?? Sounds like you really did not give this cat much of a chance.. the least you could have done was take it to the humane society where it could have possibly been adopted by someone..I disagree with putting young healthy animals to sleep.

No cat I've ever had pushed me to the edge, I've had long lives with all my pets and am in it for the long haul with each of them during their lifetime, it's a committment I make when I take on any animal as a pet. These aren't stuffed toys to be discarded when you're not having a good time.
If I were you I would ask you to consider not getting another pet AT ALL until you're capable of having one with you for the full life of the animal. Euthenasia because you didn't want to figure out what was causing behavioral problems is not an accepted way of dealing with pets. You didn't even consider finding another home for it? That kind of thinking I just don't understand.
I'm curious what you'd do with a baby of your own when it spits up or screams too long.

Are you serious?! You killed an animal because you failed to train it properly? That's really selfish of you! An animal is not a toy, you can't dump it if you get bored or annoyed of it. It's a wonder your vet agreed to putting your cat to sleep.
Cats are known to scratch things and have accidents. They are compared to little children and babies. Please do not get additional pets in the future, unless you are 100% certain you will take full responsibility of it and have put a lot more thought into it.
And no, I have never got rid of an animal because I couldn't take it anymore.

Assuming you're not a troll, you're an incredibly irresponsible cat owner. I'm surprised that your veterinarian was willing to perform a convenience euthanasia on a healthy one year old cat.
Please don't get any more pets. You don't seem to understand that getting a cat means taking care of him/her for their lifetime (10-20 years) and not having the cat put to sleep when the little kitten grows up into a bit cat and things get inconvenient for you. What you did was not right by any twisted standards. Training your cat to scratch on a scratching post and having her spayed and checked for a urinary tract infection would have been a step in the right direction, not having her killed.

OMG...you should NEVER EVER again be an animal owner...if something like this happened it was just a behavioral issue you dont KILL a poor cat for something like this...why didnt you attempt to find a new home for it or take it to a no kill shelter and shame on the vet who put the cat to sleep for something simple as this...I DONT FEEL BAD FOR YOU AND YOUR FEELINGS...deal with it...!!!

I can't believe this is serious. Surely no ethical vet would kill a healthy animal. This must be a sick joke. If it is not then I hope you never have a pet again.
PS You are a bit misandristic to assume that all guys are cat haters. I can only see one cat hater in this scenario.

sorry but that was just wrong to me. i'm surprised a vet would do such a thing unless the animal was ill or had some sort of problem health wise. should have found a home for it instead if it was healthy. please don't get another animal unless your ready to go through thick and thin for it, their not perfect but neither are humans and we can't have them put to sleep can we? i've had animals that i didn't click with or drove me nuts from time to time but didn't put them to sleep just found a new home for them instead. PLEASE don't do that again unless there are health issues involved.

My dog was a pain for 1.5 years. But I promised my mom she was my responsibility and I had to take care of her. I put all my time and effort into her and now she is trained and pretty obedient.
Jeez woman have some patience. Oh yeah - and never get another animal!!

You should be emotional about it - you have killed a creature because you could not deal with it or teach it manners - that's horrible.
You had this poor thing for a year, yet you just had it killed????
Please don't ever get another animal, cat or dog, because pets are a life time committment, not something to get rid of and kill when you don't like it anymore.
To answer your question, NO, I have never killed an animal just because it annoyed me and I couldn't be bothered dealing with it or changing its behavior.
How pathetic!!!
