Since there's no way to say this politely, I'll just say it - you need to do 2 things: 1) you need to pick the worm out of your dog's poop and put that worm into a plastic sandwich bag. 2) You need to make an appointment to see your vet and take that worm to the appointment, so that the vet can test it to see what kind of a worm it is, then give you the proper medicine to give your puppy in order to get rid of it.

By now you've probably realized that your pup has worms And yes, a 5 week old pup is actually too young to have been taken from his mother but I realize that once done, there's no going back. it's important for pups to remain with the mother in order to learn proper socialization but not knowing the reason the pup was removed, I will not judge the situation. But because the pup was taken from the mom so early proper nutrition is extremely important and the worms are interfering with the pup's ability to get the full nutrition from what you are feeding her.

She should be taken to the vet for a thorough check up, given her first puppy shots, given wormer by the vet. He/she may only give her a gentle wormer because of her age altho Drontal is about the only wormer that will take care of tapes in dogs or cats - your pup may be too young or her health may not be up to using Drontal. Not only that, but one round of wormer is NOT going to suffice. You will need to worm your pup several times in order to get ALL the worms taken care of as the worms do lay eggs in the intestinal track and they will continue to hatch and grow for weeks after the first worming. So be sure that you ask for additional treatment for your pup to take home - pills or paste, whatever your vet recommends.

And of course, please do try and feed your pup the best food you can afford - make sure the first ingredients in your food is NOT grains but actual protein like meat (and hopefully not meat byproducts either ) Watch the news too - just heard that there is a recall on dog food (Mars Petcare recalls two brands of dry dog food - Krasdale Gravy dry dog food and Red Flannel Large Breed Adult Formula dry dog food) so be cautious of what you feed your pup!!

My puppy had that. I called the vet and she sent me a pill via FedEx and I gave it to my puppy with some food and the next morning she pooped out all her worms. And it only cost me like $65.

You need to take her to the vet. At 5 weeks I don't know if the over the counter wormers are recommended. You could check walmart and see what age the wormers are for. It is common for puppies to have worms, but needs to be treated.

She has worms. Cal your vet make an appointment to get a worming tablet. I recommend getting the worming tablets from vet, because the stuff at the stores don't always work. Most puppies have worms, always workm them when you ge them, it is as important as getting their puppy shots.

No puppy should be taken away from his/her mother that young!! Please, if possible, give the pup back the people you got it from until it is about 8 weeks old (12 wks is better, IMPO).

As far as her worm condition goes -- take her to the vet. She needs to be given a wormer. And, at five weeks, she should be checked over by the vet anyway.

I'll tell you what to do- CALL THE VET- your dog has worms and probably got it from FLEAS. you need flea treatment from your vet and dewormer. its a small pill that doesnt cost much- and flea treatments are easy to apply to dogs after a GOOD bath!
Secondly- WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS!?!?! if your baby had worms coming out its *** would you get online and ask what to do or call a doctor? CALL A DOCTOR, puppies are like babies! They require care- when sick FROM A VETERINARIAN

She has tapeworms, a parasitic type of worm that lives and feeds off the intestinal lining. You need to bring your puppy to the vet and get her de-wormed. It isn't very expensive and all puppies need it. If you don't get this done your dog will lose nutrition that the tapeworms are taking and your dog will suffer.

Definately take her to a vet! She needs to be treated for worms, and be tested for other things to make sure that is the only problem.
