I want to make my pets (I have a dog and a cat) treats at home, but I want to make sure the ingredients are both safe and healthy for the animals. I want ingredients that will fortify and boost their health, rather than just something they think is yummy. What are some good ingredients? Please have reputable resources to back up your claims.

My girlfriend and I decided to take my cat over to her apartment to see how her cat would react to him. At first she just hissed at him and he'd carefully move away from her and avoid her. Then, after a while, as she would softly hiss at him as she watched him move about my girlfriend's apartment. Whenever her cat did this, my cat would stop and look over to her and make a clicking noise with his mouth. Her cat would look at mine as if he was nuts and not hiss anymore. Then, a little later she would softly hiss again and he'd stop, look at her and make that noise again. For the most part, they got along as well as two indoor cats would on a first meeting - meaning they never took any aggressive moves at each other.

So, we were wondering, were our cats communicating to one another? I know it sounds silly, but it really seemed everytime my girlfriend's cat hissed, my cat stopped, explained himself and she let him move on without hissing at him again for a little bit.

I have a 55 gal. mixed cichlid tank/aquarium. I went outta town for a month and had a friend do the feeding. When i came back everything in the tank including the glass and filters had a brown film on it, looks like rust but is very gooey. none of the fish died though I did a 50% water change and cleaned the filters. What happened? Do i have to clean all the decorations to get it off?

It is my Chihuahua's third birthday. Every year I hold a BBQ to celebrate her birthday. I sent out laminated invitations with her picture on the front. I'm having a pink theme including the table cloth, balloons, streamers and cups. I have made favors (a gift) for each of the female quests. The coasters will be printed with her face on each of them. There will be a cake made especially for the dogs, and the guests are bringing presents for the dog. I'm also planning on asking everyone to sing Happy Birthday when her cake is brought out.

Do you think people will think I"m going overboard? It's only close family who are coming.

I figure three is a milestone, as it is 21 dog years.

Thanks,

It is a muscular, yet graceful dog of mastiff stock with very strong jaws, and a short, sleek, glossy, thick, and always white coat. The head is convex in the front, with a moderate stop. The skull is massive and the jaws are strong and tenacious. The muzzle should be about the same length as the skull. The teeth should meet in a scissors bite. The ears are customarily cropped. Considerd the strongest of all dogs. An excellent guardian of the home. Loyal to the family, playful and intelligent. It is good with children and loves to kiss and cuddle with those the family accepts. This is a highly intelligent, powerful dog who needs a firm and consistent, but loving hand. Adult Dogs can be aggressive with other dogs however, he does not usually provoke the confrontation. All dogs are individuals and some are more dominant or possess a stronger prey drive than others. Can you guess the breed? GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

I have 4, i suppose small/medium, i normally feed them first thing in the morning, then last thing at night. but whenever they see me, they all go crazy and swim to the top like they're waiting for food.
Anyway... my question is how much should i feed them, not how many times.

I have a 6 month old rottweiler male who is a pure bred with his AKC papers.

I also have a 3 year old female rottweiler (rescue), and my boyfriend Jeff, and they make up what is my family.

In my opinion, I want my puppy (Diesel) neutered. I have limited knowledge in breeding, and don't know if I would want him to be studded out.

My boyfriend (who is Diesel's "daddy") doesn't want him neutered because he is pure bred, and we could possibly stud him.

I don't want to be irresponsible with our dogs, but I also see Jeff's point. We're hoping to receive some insight to help us come to an agreement. Does anyone know what the benefits/drawbacks are of neutering Diesel? (aside from the hopefully obvious litters that may come)

Thanks for any help that is offered!

Ok, i have a 5 month old female kitten. I've noticed something strange. I have a soft blanket which my friend usually sleeps under, and whenever she's sleeping under it, my kitten wanders onto a flat part (not on my friend) and sleeps/lays down. Just a little bit ago, i found her pawing at it, almost kneading it with her mouth to it. I couldn't tell if she was sucking on it or what. Is she looking for her momma's nipples? Or what? She was also just spayed a few days ago, if that has anything to do with it. Thanks!

I know everyone is going to say "take her to the vet"... but i just wanted to let you know i'm PLANNING on it, it's just going to be sunday tomorrow so i have to wait... i was just wondering your opinion.

My dog's kinda icky feeling. She sneezes, like... every 5 minutes, she's got a constant drippy nose... snot everywhere. She's even having what sounds like little doggie allergy attacks where here sneezes/coughs are really bad. At first my aunt told me it's probably just cause it's a highly pollenated time of year... but now i'm reall worried about her.

Still eating/drinking regular.. does anyone have an idea of what's going on? Any idea on how to fix some of this before we get to the vet.. i mean for the time in between?

Our six month old rottie puppy started limping recently. I felt around, and he doesn't react to anything except the pad of his paw being touched.

I'm thinking there is something in it that I can't see. Do you know of any way to get whatever it is out without going to the vet?

Don't get us wrong, we love Diesel dearly, and will take him if we can't fix it, but we also have a budget, and hope to take care of it ourselves if possible.

Any help you can offer is appreciated! :)

She is temporarily staying at a house with three other cats, and has been here for a couple of weeks. I caught her settled IN the box, hanging out there, and there was even a poop buried in the litter at the time. She is a little cat, and deaf, but big in spirit and isn't usually intimidated by the others. I have never seen a cat act this way. She left soon after I saw her, but I don't know if that was just because I disturbed her.
