I have a 35 gallon tank with a 3 1/2" Redtailed Shark, a brisle nose pleco and two blue Gouramis (one male one female).
The male Gourami is around 3 1/2" long and the female is slitly smaller.
Have have yet to find another type of fish to add to my community tank because every time I put a new fish in the male gourami harasses the new fish until it is seriously injured or dead. Does anyone have any suggestion on what type of fish will be compatible with my aggressive gourami?
(The Redtailed Shark is peaceful until something piss' it off)

This sweet cat has been sorely abused, i have taken her to the vet and have spent several hundred on her now and still see no major improvment. She seems to eat only if i spoon it down her throat or syrgine feed her, which is the only way she gets any water, and if she jumps she has to shake her head hard. It looks very painful. The vet seemed very sure she did not have ear mites or fleas. I know she dosent have fleas but the stuff coming out her ears is not only gross but I am very concerend she does have the ear mites and the debris was so much the vet didnt see it. Has anyone seen something like this before? Or know what i can do to help her? I am out of money and do not want a shelter to put her down. Please help. Thanks!

My 90lb American Bulldog's left front paw is a bit swollen and he is limping really bad. It doesn't look broken or fractured, but may be sprained. I am putting ice on it periodically and am going to take him to the vet on Monday if it doesn't get better. At this point he doesn't even want to walk but 3 steps and stops. Can I give him tylenol or aspirin or anything else for the pain until I can get him to the vet??? Thanks!! I'm so worried for him. (frown)

I got these hamsters from a pet shop about a week ago. The staff were unable to confirm the sexes of the hamsters, which I found strange ... but I bought all three Roborovskis from the same cage ... they get on absolutely fine with each other. The only thing is I noticed one is so rounded she is almost spherical looking, the other is also fairly round but the third one is over 1 cm shorter and much thinner... I have since attempted to sex him and am pretty sure he is a boy while the other 2 are girls... also he keeps running after the fattest female and trying to jump on her back which is obviously attempted mating. He is also easiest to tell apart as he keeps obsessively grooming his coat so his back is always wet. Should I be concerned about this? What I NEED TO KNOW is: if the female(s) DO get pregnant, do I separate the other 2 from her? Or just the male? And for how long after the pups are born? My hammy book gives no advice on this point so please help someone. Many thanks!

It's not explosive diarrhea because he casually walks to the litter box and goes. Doesn't seem to bother him at all. I haven't changed his food or anything in the house. The other two cats seem fine. The vet doesn't seem worried. Should I be?

My sister's neighbors went out of town for a week and they left their outside kittens (about 12 weeks old) with no food, water, or caretakers. After they had been gone for about three days, my sister noticed and called me (the cat lover in the family) to see if I had any idea what we could do to save these poor starving and dehydrated cats. My husband went and picked them up and they've been at our house for two days. We've been feeding them, providing water, litter-box training them, and giving them some desperately needed attention.

Our concern comes when the owners come back. Does anyone know if we legally have to give them their cats back? Can we refuse to because they left them for a week without food or water? We don't want to involve animal control if possible because we want to find these kittens good homes without the risk of them being put down.

If anyone knows some good sources for this question, please let me know. We're in Utah, if that helps.

Over the last year a lot has happened, i have been diagnosed with severe anorexia, i have self harmed, i attempted suicide and came very close to suceeding and then in the past week my brother died unexpectedly at the age of 17.

I have one dog already, but my parents want to get me my own dog (my present dog belonged to my brother) so that he can hopefully aid me in recovery so that i can get my life back on track. I am only 15, so it has to be quite an easy dog to train and stuff...does anyone have any specific breeds which can be good in helping recovery??

Thank you.

I really want to know your answers. Just opinions. What do you think of a people who would, for money, lie to see to it that a woman who was poor but loved her child, had that child taken from her forever, and for money, cut her off from family that she loved. And then when she got a little cat and invested in him some of the love she had reserved for her baby, killed the little cat in front of her so that she would have a nervous breakdown and never be able to tell the truth. This is a true story. I would be interested in knowing your opinions of a people like that.

I am that mother. This happened to me. I am not complaining. I want to hear from you.

Well my Beta Timon is about to reach its 2 years with me and i noticied hes been sitting upright for a couple days. I thought it was normal at first because he still comes for food and such. But then after that he started to lay down at the bottom of the tank. He comes up for air, comes up for food and thats it then slowly goes right back down to the bottom. I cleaned his tank and everything but he's still doing it. Can anyone tell me why or if i should start looking for a new fish =*(

I cant bring it in b/c my family has allergies. I have an outside barn, will a cat like that? It's big, like a bedroom. I have alot of stuff in there. It smells like gas, and if i keep the cat there for the cold nights, will it be ok? Or will the smell make it sick? It's very warm and cozy in there.

I am getting my daughter a cat next week. I am not an animal person, so I need some good advice.

What is the best cat litter to buy?
What is the best cat (kitten) food to buy?
How often do you have to bath your cat and what is the best shampoo to use for your cat?
Which would be better, male or female cat?
And what about toys and sleeping bed for the cat?

This will be an inside only cat.

Please feel free to add any additional information that may be helpful. Since I don't like cats, but I am trying to be positive for my daughter, I want to start things out right.

Recently we obtained a new parakeet friend to join our other 4 making it 5 (we have seveal other birds conures, paroletts, cockatoo). Anyhow it is a true albino parakeet which I have looked for yrs for, even has the pink eyes. My question might seem dumb but do you think the sun hurts his eyes? I once had an albino horse and someone told me the sun was painful to his eyes (I dont know if this is true or not). This bird was vet checked and is not ill, its hand tamed, eats, drinks, climbs the cage. However alot of the time during the day its eyes have been closed or it goes to the bottom of the cage. Also the other 4 have basically shunned it to oblivia is this normal just part of the "pecking order" until they are ready to allow him into their "flock". Its been awhile since I introduced a new bird to them so Ive forgetten can you refresh my memory pls.

Thanks
