It's not explosive diarrhea because he casually walks to the litter box and goes. Doesn't seem to bother him at all. I haven't changed his food or anything in the house. The other two cats seem fine. The vet doesn't seem worried. Should I be?

Even though you haven't changed his food maybe now is a good time. Look for a food that has rice in it. That may help bind him. If you can't find a cat food with rice, try a little dog food. Some have rice. It won't hurt. As long as he's making it to the litter box. Also if he is an indoor cat only, you can look into making a small indoor grass garden for him and your other cats. Grass is a natural fiber that animals need for their stomach problems. You can use a littler box. Just put in a about 4 -6 inches of soil and plant some grass seeds. Water. They'll love you for it. And it will probably help the stomach situation also. Good luck .

Well, how long has he had it? Have there been any dietary changes lately? Have you fed him any milk or milk products? New treats? And even though he is an indoor cat, have you had his stool cultured for worms? You know, those bad boys have been around for gazillions of years, and the reason for that in part is that an infected animal can leave a segment or shed an egg on a house plant or some silly thing that just came into the house.

If he comes up clean in all the above departments, just take a wait and see attitude. The concern with diarrhea, as you know, is the fluid loss. If it clears in a week or so, okay, but if it doesn't, call the vet again and see if you can't get something to tighten him up or consider a second opinion.

The loose stool could be from a parasite, infection, food allergy, (IBD) inflammatory bowel disease, or many other problems. You could try doing a fecal test to look for parasites, and deworming the cat. There are medications to control the diarrhea, which will lead to dehydration if untreated.
The next step would be to work the cat up for IBD and possible food allergies if the problem persists.

If the vet is not worried, you shouldn't be. Keep an eye on it and if it gets worse go back to the vet. It could just be a FLU type thing.....just watch it.
