Yes. I've never heard of a three colored male! And I'm a cat lover.

No the cat is not a calico. The calico cat is three different colors and it usually has orange in it. That cat sounds like a regular colored cat. You should check it out with someone to make sure that they are not taking you for your money.Or they can have red or peach.

Not really.
He may be thinking of the old PT Barnam reward for a male calico cat who wasn't sterile. But that reward was never given out because there ARE male calicos who can breed, there's nothing that unusual about them except that there aren't a whole lot of them around.
A black, white & gray cat isn't unusual, and he isn't a calico (those are white, black and orange). I think someone was joking with him.

Black, white and gray is not rare. It is common. Did it have distinct patches of black and gray on a white background? If so, maybe.
What is rare, is a calico male, a three-colored, calico male, black, peach and white; gray, peach and white; gray, red and white; black, red and white.
