Im driving across the country, about 2500 miles actually,
I have two cats that will be coming with me. what is the best way to take care of this, as far as keeping them safe and letting them make use of a toilet?

cats do well together in same carrier, cats are buddies and are not aggressive towards each other, they have been all over country before but never on such a long journey, one cries constantly in the car until he falls a sleep. and then is quiet until we stop somewhere and then cries again, i have bought the calming spray and also a little mask to cover his eyes if i need it, might help but only as a last resort. the other cat doesnt mind the car at all. i think he is actually intrigued by it.

i am actually doing the same thing, moving from Minnesota to Nevada. are your cats good in the car? do they get car sick? aggressive? we are driving in a jeep so i was going to do a set up in the back so they cant get under the seats, velcro 2 beds to the floor so they can sleep and put a desposible litter box in back, along with food and water. i dont know if this would work for you but it may give you some ideas.

if they are not good in the car, my vet told me about this spray called "feilawey" and most pet stores carry it its just a spray you can put on there bed or a blanket that will be near them to help relieve anxiety, she also told me that if they get car sick or aggressive they did have stronger stuff they can give them but you have to get it threw a clinic and they would do blood testing to make sure the cat is healthy enough for them.

i hope this was somewhat helpful and just know im going threw the same thing... lol. good luck to you and your cats!

The only way is a cage carer more like a dog cage carer I have one when I transport more than one cat or small dog there about $30-$40 blk,blu or white wire they are not big enough walking room for maybe three or four cats. At Humane society has them cheep or Pet co, Pet smart

Your best bet is to get a cat carrier.. If they get along you can use one med. sized one.. If not get two smaller ones.. You can get sedatives from your local vet... To help make the trip more bearable. For you and them... Also, you may want to get some kitty leashes so you can let them out to do their "business" w/o having them run away.. They probably won't eat much or drink much, but just to be sure.. Also, make sure you pack them cold water in a thermos or water bottle and some food.. You can even get a cat carrier with a drop bottom and use newspaper/kitty litter to absorb pee/poop... Just be sure to clean out often during your trip.... Good luck

There are small plastic litter boxes that fit in the carriers you will need to use.
The carriers need to have enough room for the cats to move around.
Use non-clumping litter.
Food & water dishes for the carriers are available at pet stores.
Cat harness on both cats. have them wear them before you leave they need to get used to them. Not the figure 8 kind but the regular harness.
Also- you should go to your vet's and get tranquilizers, you should use them when you leave and you may or may not have to use them again.

They should travel confined to a carrier. If you use a large dog carrier there will be room for a litter box. Be very careful and make sure windows are closed if you put food/water in the cage or scoop the litter box.

First off, good luck because cats may wander off and get lost. I would strongly suggest an ample cats cage for each one and plenty of love from you.

my cats have been all over the united states, of course we have a motor home, we let the cats wonder, they normally lay on the bed of sofa while we moving, at rest stops we let them out using a harness and leash.
