It's a myth. Most orange tabbies are male but I've seen plenty of females that color.

Actually calico cats are female, not male like runner08 said. I thing the tiger striped thing is a myth, though.

Myth, I have a tiger striped cat that is female and also had one as a child that was a female as well. I don't know about more males than female, I just like there temperaments

It is true that most calico cats are female. The same applies to orange cats; however they are mostly male. There are always exceptions to this though. As far as the stripped thing goes, those are just stripes.

Just a myth. BUT all solid white cats with blue eyes are born deaf and almost all tortise shell colors are female. There is a rare genetic defect that will produce a tortie male now and then but it is rare. P.S. I have a stray orange and white female that's pregnant hanging around my house right now.

Most of them would be male, it's a color that's gene linked to the male side.
Just as calico and tortoishell colors are nearly always female. Those are gene linked to the female side.
