A season lasts for about 3 weeks, counting from the day you 1st saw blood. She will probably lose blood for around 10 days, then her discharge will lighten in both amount & colour. This is when she is at her most receptive to males. She will continue to bleed for around 10 days. To be absolutely safe, do not let her around male dogs for 28 days, do not even leave her alone in your own garden. Do NOT take her out for walks for the middle period -unless you want visitations from every dog in the neighbourhood. If you must take her out, lift her into the car & take her away from other dogs.
If you are planning on spaying, make an appointment for 10 -12 wks after her season.

The heat cycle is @ 21 days. She will be interested in male dogs usually through 13-16 day.
But, please spay her! Unless you are set up to provide for puppies and vet bills.
As to your question, keep her away from male dogs unless you want puppies.

It will last for 21 days and you can take her out on a leash, but don't let her out by her self or she may get pregnant.I hope you're considering getting her spayed after this heat,so you won't have to deal with it again.

you can take her out now but only on a lead,it should last between 3-5 weeks but once she has stopped bleeding she will be most fertile for 2 weeks after this, this is when every dog will want to hump her.If you don't want to breed off her you might want to think about getting her spayed. Its a nuisance we have 2 girl dogs and we got them spayed.
