It is my Chihuahua's third birthday. Every year I hold a BBQ to celebrate her birthday. I sent out laminated invitations with her picture on the front. I'm having a pink theme including the table cloth, balloons, streamers and cups. I have made favors (a gift) for each of the female quests. The coasters will be printed with her face on each of them. There will be a cake made especially for the dogs, and the guests are bringing presents for the dog. I'm also planning on asking everyone to sing Happy Birthday when her cake is brought out.
Do you think people will think I"m going overboard? It's only close family who are coming.
I figure three is a milestone, as it is 21 dog years.
Thanks,

Obviously she won't know its her birthday, but she'll be happy because she'll have a big cake, and everyone will be giving her attention. Plus it's a good excuse to have all the family over.

Hehe thanks but no I"m not Paris Hilton. I'll be making all the extras myself, such as the cake, so I won't be spending a huge fortune! :)

Congrats to your puppy's birthday. But, she is not 21.
When a dog matures they are one year old which to us (human years) is around 17 years old. After that, add 8 years to her 'human age' for 1 year - then add 7 for each human year after that.
And no - you are not going overboard with the party - most dogs should be so lucky.

Wow, that is a bit over the top for a dog, what do you do on your birthday, it must be awesome. Actually that is the cutest thing I have ever heard of, but like you say, if that brings the family together, then go for it. Lucky dog.........

Why do you have to use the dog as an excuse to have a party? The dog doesn't care, you do. I think that anyone who gives parties to dogs is over the top and gone.

I think it's sounds awesome and very cool. I guess it depends on your guests personalities and likes & dislikes to how they are going to react. My 2 best friends and I would think it was a great idea but my family would proberly think it was a bit strange. Just depends on the relationships between your guests and animals.

Yeah, cause she doesn't know what the heck is going on.. She isn't going to remember the day.. Dogs don't appreciate things like that.. They don't know how much things cost.. Dogs appreciate time, respect, love and attention, rules and training.. They don't love and respect you any more cause you had a silly birthday party for them.

Well, you're doing a lot, but who cares? If you're having fun and the dogs are having fun, it's a good thing. Go ahead and have the party :)
