I have one bubbl eeyed goldfish and two dwarf puffers and a 2.5 gallon tank. i just got them today as a gift and i dunno what to do. I kno wi have to set up the tank and dechlorinate the watera nd stuff but what do i do with the fish in the mean time? they are in two jars [puffers in one, goldie in the other]. But what should i do when i do set it up? will i be able to keep the three fish in a 2.5 gallon tank [with dividers to keep the puffer from nipping at my goldie], or shoul di get the puffers a seperate tank?

No, you can't them all together in that size tank. Go out, get yourself at least a 20 gallon(30+ would be much better though) tank, and use that for the 2 goldfish. The 2 dwarf puffers will be ok, not great, but ok in the 2.5 gallon tank. Don't mix them together though, those puffs will nip the heck out of the goldies. And that's too small of a tank for 1 goldie. Set up the tank, and at least put the goldfish in there until you can get that larger tank(hopefully in the morning). They need to have their water aerated to add oxygen into it, otherwise they'll suffocate fairly quickly. Change out some of the puffers water before you go to bed as well, that should help.

EDIT: Sorry, thought you said 2 goldies. With one, you could get away with a 15 gallon tank for the goldfish, but a 20 gallon or larger would be better for it.

NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR DWARF PUFFERS OUT OF THE WATER, OR THEY WILL PUFF AND DIE.

Get 2 10 gallon tanks, one for the dwarf puffer and one for the goldfish

here is on how to keep dwarf puffers

and here are the basics on a goldfish

Set up both tanks, and condition the water, for the goldfish you won't need a heater but you will need one for the dwarf puffers

let the tank sitt at least 12 hours, then put in your goldfish and stress coat as directet

But for your dwarf puffers, you need to get somewhere already established water and gravel for your tank, or they won't survive, because your tanks will go through cycling
read the following

If your 2.5 gallon tank is already established you could put your DP's in there until your new tank is cycled

Also don't forget that DP's will need a constant snail supply, to wear down their teeth

hope that helps
Good luck
