You should never give an animal human medication without getting express written directions from your vet. It could make your pet very sick, or worse yet, kill it.
Tell your friend that he should take the cat to the vet & not medicate it himself.

That's what the Vet would give it. The penicillin they give cats and dogs is the same stuff they give Kids... its even bubble gum flavored.

If it's human medicine, don't do it, the doseage isn't going to be right for the cat. Cat medication should only be prescribed by a vet.

Your friend is a total idiot. Would he give his kid medication without a doctor's advice?
This kills me- frankly, when I hire somebody to do ANYTHING it is because I need help and can't do it myself. Professions, including plumbers, writers, bookkeepers and CERTAINLY doctors are legit- we need them! Tell your friend that killing the cat is unethical.

If his vet gave it to him then it is clearly okay! If not then you should let them know that it may be dangerous to give them human medicine.
