I have a 15 week old kitten whose just great, besides the horrible oder coming from his behind. I've gone so far as to baby wipe his bottom, thinking it might teach him to clean for himself. I see him clean his face and tail, but never his bottom. I've given him a bath once, but was hoping he'd learn to clean himself.

Also, we took him to the vet who says kitty is healthy. So there's nothing like that going on. I'm so confused! If he doesn't start cleaning himself, and keeps on smelling so horribly I may have to get rid of him.

Anything I can do?

I have two convict cichlids in a 30 gallon aquarium. They are a mating pair, and have laid the eggs. I have another 30 gallon in the basement with nothing but 5 neons in it. I was wondering if I could catch a few small bass from a lake and put them in the 30 gallon in my basement to eat the convict fry. I know my neons will be eaten and I'm fine with this. Thanks!

My little chiuahuah(sp?) dog is pregnant, not only is she a little dog but she's barely a year (i know how wrong that is, this was not planned, it happened before we were able to get her spayed) and she should be due to give birth NOW. but she hasn't yet. it's been the appropriate amount of days and she's been discharging alot of liquid including a greenish membrane. The vet said the babies should have been here by now, and he gave her a shot to speed it up but nothing yet. And the dog acts like she's in pain, she's always tired. i think she's too little to birth them but what do we do?? we can't afford a C section, so is there anything else we can do to get the babies out? i don't want her to be put down. HELP!

Late last night after work I came home to find no Angus kitty. I looked everywhere, and when I went into the last room and noticed that the window screen was off. I panicked and looked outside and saw the screen in the bushes and rocks below. I ran out and a hour and a half later I found him. He seems fine, doesn't act like he's hurt. But, should I take him in to get checked out? Could he be internaly bleeding? Help!!

I know he jumped out because a few days ago he was running around that room and jumping on the window ledge and sliding. I even said to my fiance that he could slide right out if that screen gave away.
Damnit. :[

Usually when I buy a new fish I'll get a smaller one for about £3 or £5, but yesterday while at Pets at Home looking for one fancy goldfish as a companion for my other one I saw a lovely Moor for £19.99 and bought it. I know it's not very expensive, but now I'm thinking that it's a lot of money for just one fish. So, have you spent a lot of dosh on one fish? If so what was it and how much did you pay? And do you regret it???

I get very emotionally attached to animals, I have several cats and a dog, I was looking at adding a guinea pig to my family and I want to know how long they live. I had a teddybear hampster and I was devestated when she died at 5 years old. Our vet said I should stay away from short lived animals and our animals tend to live a long time. (All of our cats and dogs we have had in the past have lived into their 20's)

I have a male cat that's about 1 year old. He needs his shots and to get fixed still. He's an indoor/outdoor cat and hasn't been showing signs of being sick. I work a good job, but with bills and rent it's impossible for me to get him to a vet. I also don't drive. I live in Altadena...any suggestions on what I can do for him?

I only have 1 molly in a 2 gallon tank, where it isn't crowed, has hiding places, and an air pump with a filter. My molly is about to have babies, and if i'm correct, you need 1 gallon per inch of a fish, so my molly is fine, but I don't know what I should do with the baby fish. So... what should I do with them?
P.S. I don't have enough money for a 10 gallon tank, unless anyone knows where to get one for $10! And I can't wait for Christmas!

My 5 yr. old female Yorkie started slowing down in the past few months. She can't jump up on anything anymore. Her gait started to get wobbly because her legs are shaky. When she goes potty she can't bend them to a good stance because they buckle on her. My vet gave her cortisone but it hasn't helped. The specialist wants to do a cat scan for 1500.00 but we can't afford that. He says it's definitely in her brain after we spent $850 on xrays, ultrasound, blood tests to rule everything else out. If we can't find her some alternative help than he said she'll have to be put down. They think its either brain tumor or enciphilitis or some type of viral incurable infection in her brain. She only weighs 6 lbs. and I can't see subjecting her to anymore IV's or a spinal tap as was suggested. If anyone can help with info of any kind I'd appreciate it. She is like our baby and we love her so very much. If necessary we will put her down to end her suffering. She's not in any pain.

I've had my goldfish Steve since 2004, when my now fiance won him at a festival. Last night I came home to find that our filter must have died yesterday. Steve had his whole fish face out of the water trying to breathe. My fiance' and I raced to a 24 hr Walmart, and got him a new filter. Then at 3am, I noticed that Steve was now floating upside down, but still breathing. I don't know what's wrong with him, but he is sitting on the bottom of the tank upside down breathing, and not swimming at all. Please help!!! What do I do? He's in a 10 gal tank, and he's fed regularly.

My friend has a betta who she noticed is just starting to get tail rot. There is just a little fraying on the ends. Would it be possible for her to not have to use medication, and just do frequent water changes to get rid of the tail rot?
She was gone for almost 2 weeks and the person she got to feed it never changed the water.

My female swordtail just died, i think it was ich because it looked as if it's body was covered in some sort of white powder and it's fins were folded. I will clean the bottom of the tank and do a 50percent water change. I am going to change the substrate from rocks to something smaller. The rocks leave gaps for food and dirt to settle and make it harder to siphon out which probably is why my fish got ich from bad water conditions.

Do i replace all the substrate at the same time? will that be ok? i know some beneficial bacteria grows on the substrate so i don't know if i should replace it all at once or gradually over a week?
