My cat stays in my bedroom all day. When I get home or enter the room, she cries until I pet her or pick her up. Why? Is she just missing me?

She's hungry?

Is she kept locked in that room while you are gone? If so, then part of her crying is that she isn't getting enough run free time in the day and has noone to see. That can really stress a cat out. I suggest getting her a playmate because cats do better in pairs. All animals do better in pairs, especially if no one is in the home all day. If you have to be gone from your pet more than a few hours a day, they need a pal to spend the time with. Two kitties aren't much harder to take care of than one and it will make all the difference in the world to their overall health. Loneliness is a bad thing for an animal. She is letting you know that by the way she cries and needs so much attention when she sees you. If you can't get her a pal, then you need to make sure that she has access to a good perch in front of a good window to see out of and put a bird or squirrel feeder in front of that window so that she can see some action and get entertained. Also, be sure you have a TV in the room and it is on a good animal station like Animal Planet so that she can be entertained by that as well as hear voices and animal sounds. That will make a lot of difference for her and keep her much happier. My cats have their own TV and it's always on Animal Planet or I put a CatSitter video in if I'm only going to be gone an hour or so. You wouldn't like it if you were enclosed in a room all day without any entertainment or pals around and neither does she.

She probably misses you. Also, when you come home, you probably let her out of the bedroom, where she is much happier as there is much to explore. For the windows in the bedroom, are there platforms that she can lay on and look out the window? Does she have a cat tree or other interactive thing in the bedroom?

Also, in a way, she has you trained. You come home. She cries. You pick her up and give her attention. Success!

Why do you keep her locked in your bedroom all day? That doesn't seem like enough space for a cat. My cat likes to take off running through my apartment, I don't think your cat could do that confined to one room.

My one kitten does the same thing. That's a cats way of letting you know they want something, and that sounds like she wants attention.

Sound like she is asking for attention. Maybe she doesn't like being kept in the house all day long, if that's the case.

Well she is really happy from seeing you because she's been alone all day so she is happy.
