I have a pair of angel fish who laid eggs and hatched them once (they ate the fry). I was confident they would breed again but they seem to have fallen out !

If your looking for a fish with the best turn around and you want to breed a tuff to breed pleco buy a 6 pack of young zebra plecos and let a pair develop and they will breed and be worth about 300 bucks each. I would try regular plecos first though and then only spend the money on zebras when you have a good idea of how to breed plecos.

They should do as the tend to mate for life. I used to breed them and had them breed in a community tank (with small fish) several times as well as in a breeding tank.

They normally like to breed on a flat surface where they can fan the eggs. The books recommend a flat bit of slate or something similar but mine would quite happily use an Amazon Sword leaf.

It happens but mother nature will kick in and the natural urge to reproduce will prevail.- when the female has laid the eggs they will be fertilised very soon after , separate the male and all other fish . then when the eggs hatch separate them from the female and feed them liquifry hopefully they will survive .
Once I had a female that abandoned her eggs and the mail looked after them (cleaning and fanning) so I left him with the eggs and took all the other fish away - it worked but the fry died . I think it was my water quality .

They should eventually. In most every caseonce a pair has formed they will continue to breed together. It could take a few months for them to lay more eggs so just keep the tank clean and keep them properly fed on a vaired diet and wait them out.
