So I was having a problem with my fish dying everytime I did a water change. I boycotted cleaning my tank and have gone for 2 months now without cleaning, just topping the water off and have had no fatalities. I'm getting green algae and my snail isn't enough to clean it. What's a good algae eater that won't get too big? Does anyone else go this long without changing the water?

I'd like to know more about them... Do they get along with kids/other animals? Do they bark excessively/run away? I know that they need a fenced yard. What kinds of behavior/medical problems have you had with your own? I have done some research, but I also know there are just some things breed websites aren't going to tell you. I have a 1 year old daughter and I am planning eventually to have more kids. My Saint Bernards have been excellent with my daughter, so I know that giant breeds aren't necessarily a problem just because of size. If anyone has a suggestion for another giant breed that would be good with small children, I'm open to suggestions. And by giant breed, I mean the breed standard over 100 lbs...... I am a vet tech, and I just don't see many giant breed dogs.....1 Saint Bernard other than my 2, A couple Great Danes, and 1 Bullmastiff.

It also can't poop or pee - ever. And it has to spit out golden eggs and make me a million dollars. Oh, and I'm going to get rid of it as soon as I find a better dog. And I'll probably breed it 700 times just to see what it makes.
Good Idea??

I am so sick of these questions!! ANYONE ELSE?

I have an Oscar that is about 6-7" long and he is in a 55 gallon tank. I went to purchase a Plecostomus today and the lady at the pet store said I should only be feeding the Oscar once a day. I have been feeding him two times a day like it says on the directions on the food. The only complaint I have is that there is a lot of algae on the tank that is the reason I went for the little sucker fish. So, how much does this guy need to eat and how often??

I don't know which one he has, but he's been biting at his butt and back legs for a few days now...and today he's been whining and snapping at his backside. I don't see anything on him when I search him but I still don't want to not do anything.

I have a 4-months old malchi (chihuahua and maltese mix) who is getting to be dominant/aggressive. When I try to get near her toys, she growls and doesn't let me any nearer. The same goes when she has food. I try to correct this behavior but I can never seem to get near her. I try to take her toy or food that is causing the dominance but she attempts to bite me. Many said to put her on the ground (to show I'm the leader) and hold her there till she quiets down but once more she bites me. She seems to have a bit of a biting problem for when I pet sometimes, she growls and she snaps at me. Any suggestions on what I should do? Please don't say obedience class for I already know that as an option.

We just recently got a new kitten from the pound. She is about 3-4 months old and was fixed about 2 days ago.
We've had 1 cat for a little over a year now (she was about 3 months old when we got her). We brought the young kitten home yesterday and have kept her in our extra room at night. When we put these cats together, the older one stalks the younger one as if she was prey. She swats and hisses at the younger cat. Occasionally, it'll appear as if they're playing..but that doesn't last very long. Our older cat gets mad when we try and pet her and seems jealous towards the younger one. Will this end? The younger cat crys LOUDLY when we lock her in our extra room; I'm assuming that's just cause she's young and is scared/lonely.
Our older cat's eyes get really wide (and dialated) when she watched the kitten walk around..obviously the kitten is afraid and folds it's ears back and hisses when approached by our older cat.
Please help!

She is very sweet and very well behaved. She is a whippet mix and 5 months old but she LOVES people and jumps all over them and me when she see them. Any suggestions as to how to train her not to do this. I tell her no but she is like ADD dog. She doesn't focus very long. Help!

I just noticed some orange coming up on some of my live rock. i was reading about CLOD and was wondering if anyone may have more info on how to cure it or get rid of it. All my levels are right where they should be except my calcium dropped to about 350 where i normally keep it around 400-420. Thought this was normal though since i recently added a new decent sized brain coral so i just figured it was time to start dosing more calcium being that i have more corals. So if anyone has any good info or has ever gotten this any info would be greatly appreciated.

He was missing for three days and came back barely able to put weight on the leg with no visible injury. He has gotten better but cannot jump or climb easily and frequently has to rest. He is a big cat: tall, long and hefty w/o being fat so the injury will likely not heal properly. Is there any remedy short of a vet visit which I cannot afford? Maybe baby aspirin daily or something else?

fatal and required the cat to be put down the vet said. She is broken up by the fact that the cats head had to be decapitated to get sent off to the lab for results. Now when they bury him, they will just bury the body and the head is off at some lab somewhere here in Ohio. She is busted up over this. I told her that the body is just a vessel for the spirit and soul, and he is now in heaven, his spirit, do you agree?

We have a new tank and have dechlorinated the water and added bacteria and plants. The temperature is 25 degrees and we have an electric filter, an airstone and a light. We added two guppies and 12 neon tetras. All were fine until the next day when the tetras were found lodged in plants, ornaments, gravel etc. Most were dead. The few that were left alive were listless and bobbing around the tank carried by the currents - only capable of twitching. Over the course of today the two guppies have sunk to the bottom of the tank, becoming listless. They are now lying on their sides and occasionally turning upside down. Can anyone suggest why this has happened and how can I prevent it from happrning again?

I'm really feeling sorry for everyone who has fleas right now because I just got through having one the worst flea problems I think I've ever had. Here's what I did to get rid of them so hopefully it will work for you.
Mix lysol and hot water in a spray bottle (half and half of each) and spray everything in your house that cannot be washed. Lysol, come to find out, kills flea eggs and flea larvae on contact. They start bleeding immediately-its weird.
If possible, wash everything that can be washed in hot water. If you have dark clothes that youd rather not wash in hot water, wash them in warm water.
search fleas its the second entry
