fatal and required the cat to be put down the vet said. She is broken up by the fact that the cats head had to be decapitated to get sent off to the lab for results. Now when they bury him, they will just bury the body and the head is off at some lab somewhere here in Ohio. She is busted up over this. I told her that the body is just a vessel for the spirit and soul, and he is now in heaven, his spirit, do you agree?

I'm glad she has ruled out rabies. If he had rabies the people and animals around him may have been in significant danger. She did the right thing by having his body tested. Please tell her how brave she was to do this. She may have saved many people and animal owners significant worry.

Its a sad thing. But I feel you did the right thing. And being that the head was sent off will help the medical people to better understand what happened to her cat and could possibly help another cat in the future.

To maybe help her a little bit, why not look into getting a memorial to place near the cat's grave or something of the like to keep his memory to give to her. It shows that you care and feel for her loss.

I agree with you. The cat will no longer suffer, you got the results of the illness, and kitty is in a better place. Now the grieving process begins. Only time will heal the heart. Good luck.

Yes. I can understand your girlfriend however. It's gruesome and disgusting. Having the cat cremated and burying his ashes may help however. I am sure he is in Heaven waiting for the time when you and your girlfriend see him again, when you two die. Sorry for your loss.

omg, that is horrid. why did they need results if they still put him down. make sure she doesn't see her cat before he is burried. she probably wouldn't be able to handle it. give her my sympathy
