Okay. I have 4 turtles, the largest only 2.5 inches. Two common musks (one is female), a painted, and a map or false map turtle. They live in a ten-gallon (I know, its over-stocked), and I want to try to keep the water as clean as possible for them so that I dont have to change it as frequently (I usually have to change it every day to every other day).

My tank is set up like this: the water reaches almost the top of the tank (maybe about a half-inch from the top), and, skimming the surface, is a tupper-ware lid that I have turned into a ledge (its a square, so I put it in the corner. I put a screw in three corners, and string is tied to them and taped to the outside of the tank). At the bottom is a circular cinderblock and about a half-inch of pebbles and shells. Crap always builds up in between the them, and the filter cant clean it, so should I get rid of them? Other suggestions (aside from getting rid of the turtles, which I know some wit is bound to say) are appreciated

My little boy has a soft coat...unlike regular yorkies, it's harder to keep up and he gets matted so easily even if I brush him. How do I get the mats out of his fur without hurting him? I will be getting him cut shorter, but his appointment isn't until July 19.

Just back from the pet store, and the have a 2ft tank full of fish that are called 'algae fish'? Or somthing along those lines, they are 2-3 inch in lenght and some are grayish and some are white/yellowish, And there FREE? They look disease free and there is about 10-20 of them, Why would they just be giving them away for free?

two of my turtles are facing each other having their arm stretching out and then one would like shake its arm ( looks like vibrating ) and then the other one would follow it. and then first one stop and the second one would go up closer to the first one and then the second turtle would do that arm thingy again.do you think they are playing or what?

The cats get along. The dog is good with cats, and only a few pounds heavier than my cats! Any tips would be appreciated, as the dog is arriving this weekend. Thanks.

I found out at 9:00 A.M. while I was gone that my dog a female yorkie named Trixie fell off are couch and from the vets view went into "shock" she was alert and can raise her head up but she is in critical condition so they can not do X-rays yet and when my mom visited her just a minute ago (the vet is not 10min. from my house) Trixie had a seizure while in my mothers arms and peed on her. Thank You Yahoo users. I had a young Chihuahua die and I do not want something to happen to Trixie.

My pleco has been fine with all my other fish ( 2 electric yellows a red tailed shark 5 tiger barbs and a gold grourimi ) i look in the tank this moring and its top fin has some kind of HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT whats wrong im thinking its parisites or something i have aqaruim salt and a good filter is there any more i need ( is a 20 gallon tank ) ( upgrading to a 55 sometime )

My dog was recently in a kennel for 3 days. When she came back she had diahrea for 4 days and now we've got that under control. She's been coughing some lately and she keeps breathing in and out very heavy like she's dry heaving. It just seems to be like a dry cough with breathing trouble. I am really short on money and don't want to take her to the vet for something that will go away on it's own. Is this something that has to be dealt with at the vet?

I had two 3 months old, "red-eyed slider" turtles, i took good care of them and fed them. they seemed to like the sun, so i put them on my balcony for a half a day. I came back to find one dead?! what could be the reason, the sun was not that bad.....

I feed my dog 3 times a day, with bits of snack in the middle,
and when there are people around, he would go and poo on his poo-ing area, but when people are not looking, he just poops in the carpet! suprisngly, he is well-trained to urine in his spot, but how do i train him to poo only in his spot? HELP PLEASE~~

I got my tortoise less than a week before. He got introduced to dogs and one was a bit agressive but he didnt lay as much stool as he did at my friends house. I took him to my friends house and he got introduced to 2 more dogs that were not agressive at all just curious. When he was inside the house staring at the dogs on the other side of the glass, he started to lay a HUGE stool, keep in mind this tortoise is still young. after his stool he started to pee and then there were like white flakes that looked like oatmeal in his pee.He just eats apples, cherries, lettuce, watermelon, and grass. Maybe an hour after he started to poop again. while we were going back home maybe 3 hours later he started to poop and pee again inside the car. Could he have gotton car sick? Was he nervous or scared of the 2 new dogs he was introduced to, if so how come he didnt poop and pee when he was introduced to my dogs? Could he be sick? How come he didnt poo and pee at my house like he did at anothers

i just recently noticed that my goldfish (the goldfish are out of the tank)had a few babies.(maybe 5 of them) they now look like this... http://www.geocities.com/aquariumd/goldf4.jpg

im pretty sure that they have been feeding on the algae that is growing in the tank but im not sure.... can any one help on what i should do to feed them, care for them, and/or put the filter on the water and the bubbeler to put air in the water??
