Our goldfish had babies too. They were great fun!! You can actually buy fry food. Depending on how big they are you can feed them flake also. But not too much as they don't eat much. LOL, just looked at the pic - fry food definately. You can get it at Walmart. I would not put daphnia as another person suggested in any tank. Daphnia are water fleas and you can get an infestation if you aren't careful. Goldfish are pretty low maintanence. You could put bubbles in the fry tank as long as it didn't create a harmful current. I don't know what size tank you have them in but some bubblers can cause a boiling (in motion not temp) effect if the tank is too small and it can stress the fish out. I wouldn't put a filter in the water as they are small enough to get sucked in right now. They will begin to resemble lil tiny fish in a couple weeks and it doesn't take long for them to 'look' like goldfish. They are small enough to get a breeder tank (like a lil plastic tank that floats in the top of your bigger tank) They would get air in the water but would not be in any danger of being sucked in a filter or eaten by momma and pappa. You can put them in with the parents once they are bigger than the parents mouths.

BTW - our momma is now six years old and we still have one of her babies and the pappa.
Depending on what kind of goldfish you have, the babies might have deformities that will cause them to die as they get older. But for the most part this is a great thing to watch and way easy to take care of. The hard part is keeping them from becoming dinner. Once they are about the size of the tip of your thumb (from your knuckle to the tip) they should be able to hold their own in a regular tank.
In short. I would go get fry food from the store and in a few weeks start feeding them flake. You can put a bubbler in the tank with them as long as it isn't too harsh of a current. Having air in the tank really does help them. They will grow very quickly - you should be able to put them back in a reg tank in a month. It is amazing.
I hope this helped. Have fun and Good Luck!!

They can eat the algae, but there is fry food on the market to feed to them, Try water flea. Crushed boiled egg yoke, be careful not to foul the water too much. lucky you with goldfish babies. Put a nylon sockie (panty hose) over the intake tube of filter so they won't be sucked up. Be careful when you clean. Keep the water real clean and they will grow faster, be larger adults, and be healthier all around. Yes use airation. Heat would be nice for them too like 78 degrees, constant temperature is very important.

The following shedule is one that I have found and seems to be recommended:

After 48 hrs Crushed yolk of hardboiled egg and oatmeal paste, or there is a liquid available commercially

After 2 weeks Baby brine shrimp and infusoria

After 3 weeks Powdered foods can be used

First 4 weeks Feed 3 times each day

Up to 4 mths Feed 2 times each day

After 4 mths Once daily

(Feedings should be as much as they can eat in 20 minutes)

You should always siphon off any uneaten food, but be cautious so you do not siphon your fish. Once a month a tablespoon of salt should be added to the tank. Artificial aeration can be provided after 1 month.

AS

DO not net the baby's (fry) up the will end up with twisted spiens etc, And the should be about 1 inch in about 6 months. Depending on your water condtions

My baby common goldfish and orandas are about 7 weeks old and they LOVE bloodworms. It takes a while for them to be able to eat them but after they get used to seeing it, they eat a lot of it and they get a lot bigger!

Congrats!

You are right, they have no doubt been feeding on the aglae and the small creatures living in the algae up until this point. At that size, they will continue to feed on that, but you will want to offer them something more. I would suggest newly hatched brine shrimp for the next few weeks. Daphnia is also a good food at this point for them. Within a few weeks they will be large enough to start accepting larger foods such as adult brine shrimp. Live would be best if you have a shop that carries live brine shrimp (check with saltwater shops first). A few weeks later you can try to slowly get them eating frozen and prepared foods, but again, change the food slowly over the course of several days so they can adjust to the new food source.

The food should be a little higher in protein than adult fish food, and finely ground. Be careful to avoid over-feeding and don't worry too much about aeration(although a little would probably be OK). Do small (10%) water changes, being careful not to siphon out any of the little guys. Do the w/c's once or twice a week. As the fry grow the aeration will become more important.(To support a colony of nitrifiying bacteria to avoid a build-up of ammonia in the tank.) Most important DON'T OVER-FEED. Good luck, raising those fry should be lots of fun.-----PeeTee

Keep your filters running & keep doing your weekly water changes as you would normaly do. Since your goldfish fry are free swimming, you can feed them newly hatched Brine Shrimp, Daphina, & some crushed Flakes.
