Here's a very helpful website for first-time bird owners.
http://www.cockatootrainer.com/newowner/

There are lots of things you should know, but it will take a long time to write them all here, so I would go buy a book on cockatiels. The biggest tip I can give you is to give your bird plenty of attention but don't spoil it, and a trained bird is a happy bird (even if it doesn't act like it while you train it)
Good luck with your new pet!

I'm excited to answer this question twice in one week!

I've pasted a link to a really cool web site that will guide you on care, diet and other cockatiel necessities. It's a nice site and it looks like it was carefully planned. Give it a look! Best wishes with your little bird, they are so much fun!

I assume you mean cockatiel, a small yellow/gray bird. There's not much to do except feed them and give them water. You should spray them with a water bottle because they have dry skin. If you want to be close to it, hold the food tray in your hand and it will eventually come to you when its hungry enough.

I would type a lot of helpful information, but I'm pretty sure it would be easier to just visit this website

I used this website when I first was interested in getting one and it really helped!
Hopefully it helps you too.
Good luck with your bird!
