Hi, over the last 3 weeks my pondfish have lost their appetites and I have had 5 fish die. There are no obvious problems except that a couple of the dead fish have some red spots or streaks on the body. Some fish have been jumping -but no more than usual. Water chemistry has been tested for ph,ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate and all OK. Water is filtered and UV for algae, plant growth is fine. Any advice welcome.

I would love to have a saltwater tank but don't think I could afford it and would probably mess it up! I need ideas for types of fish and color schemes. I also would like bright colored fish. Any decorating ideas would be welcomed as well! I wish saltwater fish would be easier maintained! Oh well any suggestions??

Ok so i have a 5" red belly piranha in a 35 gallon tank and the piranha always stays on the left side of the tank and does not swim at all. the only time i see him swim is when i feed him at night and when he is really scared. Why is he not the active during the day or when not being fed or scared?

We stay in an apartment and our dog who simply keeps on barking till we take him out. We dont want our neighbours to be disturbed and cause them inconvenience. But its really annoying for us too. If we ignore him,he continues to bark and whine.

I understand that Water Hyacinth has purifying characteristics. If kept in an aquarium, will it absorb the fish waste and ammonia and whatever, from the water making it more healthy for fish to live in? I also know that it absorbs a lot of oxygen from water, so adding a good aeration system in the aquarium should provide enough oxygen for the fish and the plant to breathe. Is that correct?

I am hoping this is the ultimate solution to aquarium maintainance where water changes arn't necessary. I brought this topic up, since I don't find people talking much about this plant.

Can turtles turn themselves up right once they are in the water. I heard if they were turned over on land they could not turn back over and would die. I just want to know that this big boy is okay. I had to pitch him into the pond to save him from a car. When I saw him land upside down ...well is he okay?

I have a Malawi cichlids tank. I read Cichlids like alkaine water. So I bought cichlid salt from aquarium shop and added to the tank to raise the PH. Do I need to add normal trophical salt as well? or is it fine with the cichlid's salt?

I have 5 basic fish in a 10 gallon aquarium. The filter is for a 10-30 gallon tank, so it is slightly oversized for this tank. It seems to create a strong current that the fish have to struggle against constantly to hold their place. So, do I need to run the filter 24 hours a day, or can I just run it, say 8 hours/day.

Thanks.

He is about 5 year old and always eats like a, well pig. The past week or so, he eats almost none of his pettets, or straw. He drinks the water, and still loves carrots and misc salad greens.

He's much thinner and vocalizes more. He doesn't look or act ill, but I'm still concerned.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
