Well it's a long African story. It all started when roaster the king of all birds ruled the land. Because of the roaster's red comb, cats feared that it was fire. And the roaster lied to the cats and turned all cats
into slaves to work for the roaster or else they get burnt! So the cats had no choice but to work hard and turn in there hard earned catch to the roasters. It was not until fluffy the kitten who was sent by her mother to get fire from the roaster. Fluffy found the roaster fast asleep. Fluffy returned home without fire. With frustration took fluffy to mr. Roaster to get fire. So bravely mother kitty reaches out with a long stick to the roaster's head, surprisingly enough the stick didn't catch fire. So they left roaster alone and went and told other cats. The next morning mr. Roaster ordered the cats to get his daily catch and the cats refused. They said you have been lying to us all along. As a result all birds including you will be eaten head first to see if it burns.

They leave their leftovers on your doorstep for you as a gift. Or at least that's what I was always told. I think that there's some truth to this answer because I had a cat once that would bring me her catch and sit there with it until I came out the door and look up at me all proud of herself. Most of the time she would eat everything first and only leave me the intestines. True story.

1. Kill the prey tear its head off to make it edible (presentable)
2. To show the (cat) owner that they killed the enemy and worthy.
3. To mark the entrance with a scent mark
I know sounds whack i thought so too but thats at least an answer .

Cats wear the pants in the family. They are providing us with dinner.

That's what they think ^. I think mostly they are just showing pride in their work and want their owner to congratulate them. It's a hunting instinct I guess. Also, I've never seen a cat actually eat a squirrel head, so why not dump it on the porch?

I don't know. My cat plays with it's prey until it dies and then sticks it into my mom's shoe. It's really gross but i think they do it as some kind of present for their owner. My cat knows that if she puts the mouse in my moms shoe it'll be found and she usually gets treats after that. Maybe it's some kind of instinct?!

When a cat leaves prey on the doorstep, it shows that they consider you their family and they are helping provide food for their family. It will hurt you cats feelings if you show you are angry with him. :)

They bring it to provide for the family. They leave the guts and fur behind because it's harder for them to digest.

lol. this might sound gross, but it's actually for you. A gift if you will. It's like me buying you some roses to show my gratitude, except they don't use roses.. they use animal carcasses. Take it as a compliment

The body is a gift to you! Pet him and thank him and throw it away when he's not looking.
