Sorry to hear that. I have had rats for years and i know you can get attached to them as much as you can any other animal. Just an FYI, if you do consider getting a new one hit up you local Humaine Society, save some rats that can use a good home. They only adopt out ones that have been handled and are safe to be pets. Either way sorry for your loss, my last one died at 7 years of age (shocked the vet even) i know i miss her.

Sorry to hear that. Regular vet visits are important, but more important is recognizing the signs of illness. You learn from the mistakes you make in life, some lessons cost more than others.

It really hard when a pet passes, especially from something that can be prevented if recognized and caught in time. It is ok to feel bad, but these things happen, so don't get down on yourself too much.

Again, sorry for your loss.

my rat has that infection and the worst vet possible gave me a medicine that is barley working but she seems fine now... just a little hyper and chirpy. Sorry for your loss, I hope u get another rat someday to play with ;)

I hav ehad rats and they do get those infections alot. Bedding has a lot to do with it! I know how you feel. I lost one too not that long ago (abscess tooth) I don't know about ever getting another...they don't live long and I can't handle the loss.

I am so sorry to hear this.

When we take an animal into our home, we are completely responsible for it. If it seems not well the best think is to have a good vet look at it.
