Check out this website. It's all about cardinals pecking at windows and explains how you can stop the behavior.

the bird is going to that location, because there is food near by. The bird first flew into the window without ur knowing. Now, to find the food again, it pecks at the window as a sign of checking its enviornment and making sure this is where it previosly was, like a landmark

Is it pecking very rapidly like it is trying to drill a hole through your window? If so, it is probably a woodpecker. Else it is just a weird bird who's obsessed with something in your room. Or maybe it just likes the noise it makes.

I am with you on this, I have a young cardinal that is doing the very same thing. I sprayed my screen with a non toxic pet away spray. It deters them. Most store have it that sell pet products. So far I have not had him banging on my window in a few days. Good luck!

Sounds like a woodpecker. It might be trying to make a nest in the side of your house. It happened at my house when I was a kid but I can't remember what we did to stop it... I think it just moved on by itself to a nearby tree
