Can turtles turn themselves up right once they are in the water. I heard if they were turned over on land they could not turn back over and would die. I just want to know that this big boy is okay. I had to pitch him into the pond to save him from a car. When I saw him land upside down ...well is he okay?

1. Turtles swim well and can easily right themselves in the water.

2. Turtles upside down on land are not at a big risk either. They can usually right themselves, and if they don't they don't die any quicker than any other animal that is trapped- they will die from exposure, dehydration, and starvation- but not from some mysterious internal failure.

I used to have a turtle, and when I would put him in the water upside down, he would have no problem turning back the right way.
