I have used Cycle when my tank was new and it worked great Was wondering if you should still use it when you do water changes. or when you add new fish like the bottle say. I know some people dont belive in useing it at all. Thats not what i want to know. I want to know if it really needs to be use at ever water change or when you add new fish.

Right now I only have two rosy barbs in it. I don't want to over populate the tank. Could I add more rosy barbs? Or could I add some Danios? If so what would be a good number to add? New to the fish thing so any info would be welcomed. I have had the tank for about a month and the barbs are doing great.

Our family is looking for a puppy (about 12 months & younger) of any of the listed breeds. We currently have 2 adult cats and we are also looking for an adult Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. We are planning to move into a house with a rather large amount of land for these animals BEFORE we get any of the animals.

We have researched on this many times, but no helpful information has come up

If anyone can answer how these dogs behave, your response will be greatly appreciated.

Any other information is welcomed too

The guy told me that although he can get to be up to 20 inches long... if the tank is small enough he won't outgrow it. The guy at the pet store said that he would grow in respects to the size of the tank. I only have a 10 gal tank. Although the guy told me he wouldn't outgrow it (he wouldn't get any bigger than room would allow), I'm nervous that maybe the guy was wrong. Anyone know anything about this? Will he truely stay small enough for my tank, or will I have to find him a new home?

OK - people spend big $ for a purebreed because the AKC standards reassure that the puppies will grow up to the same standards of their parents regarding bone structure, weight and size, especially in small dogs. So you buy a very small dog, pay big bucks, and the puppy grows up 5-7 lbs bigger than their parents. Of course you love the dog and wouldn't trade it for the world! But should the breeder be held accountable in some way since, after all, the registration mark is stamped on the papers and you paid a high price because of the so-called guarantee? Please, no "shame on you" comments. This is strictly hypothetical.

I adopted a 7 year old shepherd mix from an animal shelter a few month ago.

I noticed that she won't eat unless I'm in the room with her. She absoultely won't touch her bowl. I'll give her her food and come back a few hours later and it's still sitting there then she'll gobble it all up once she sees me.

You know what they say, you can't teach an old dog new tricks but this has got to stop b/c I feel terrible knowing that while I'm at work she won't eat until I get home. Plz help?

All of the sudden my 2 year old Yorkie is afraid to the things she used to do. And it happened overnight and there is no reason that I can think of that would make her change!

She won't get on the couch or the bed because she is scared and she ALWAYS slept on the couch and now she paces the floors and acts really nervous. It's went on for about 2 days now.

I was just wondering if this has happened to anybody else and could help me figure out what to do to help her get over it.. Thank you!!

So, Maxie follows my mom EVERYWHERE. He waits at the door for her. We used to think he wanted to potty, but no. We would take him out, he would see Mommy not there, and run back inside to search her room.
He did this with his previous owner to. Followed everywhere!! He follows Mom around the house, out the door, and tries to go into the bathroom with her!!
My mom doesn't even cuddle and pet Max as much as everyone else does. She is probably the least pettfull to Max.
At this moment he is WHINing and WHINING at the door. Screaming and barking, and we let him out, he barreled straight toward her and sniffed to ensure it was her.
We adopted him 3 or so years ago, and it has been getting worse the last few weeks. Why? Does anyone else's dog do this?
I think it is some sort of seperation anxiety. I think that because he used to rip paper up while we were gone, and then he started the following of mom when she was gone. Please help. PLEASE!!

Many people vacation at this time of the year throughout the U.S. Coastal cities like: Virginia Beach, Va., cities in Fla., Michigan, Texas, California, and others will be selling them. It is a federal law that they cannot be sold as pets under 4". Some states, like Missouri, do not permit them to be sold at all.Turtles carry salmonella and other diseases that people can get. I am in the retail pet business and I follow the law but there a people out there who want to make money no matter how illegal. They get busted every summer. If this is happening where you live, contact your local game warden or conservation agent. At this time of year, our pet shop gets at least 10 calls a day for people wanting to purchase these small turtles. Many do not know it is illegal.
Please post your opinion. Thank you.

OK, so we just got a dog from the humane society about a month ago and they told us that she was spayed, but sure enough she had a litter of puppies a couple of weeks ago. Now, this was very unexpected and needless to say we are a little unprepared and tight on resources. The puppies all have their eyes open and are starting to move around a lot. Right now, they are in a wading pool with blankets and a heating pad that the mother can come and go from as she pleases. I was wondering what the next step should be. We still have 2 to 3 weeks before we ween them of course, but until then, what can we put them in, or how should we puppy-proof the area? They are in a warm section of our back room (we live in an apartment). Please help?

i understand that the amount of salt is approx, i tablespoon per 5 gallons of water , thats all fine and dandy but when you do a water change do you replace the mount of salt appropriate for the new water being added or does some of the salt still stay in the water concentrated so less should be added? hopefully this question makes sence, basically if i add the appropriate amount of salt every time i replace water after a water change will i actually be making the water to saline.

I bought my Chihuahua around early May of this year and she seems perfectly fine. But I've been wondering about the hole on top of her head. It never seemed to bother her whenever I tried to examine it, and that kind of put me into relief a bit, but it still bothers me. Is this normal or do I need to go see a vet?

Okay, so my puppy is 6 weeks old and the breeder actually raised them indoors and started the training process, but I do not see it being successful. I cage train my puppy. I put him in a cage when I'm gone, at work, and at night (he hates it!!!). I have been leaving him outside A LOT to go potty. He does potty and poop in his cage if I dont wake up in the middle of the night to let him out on time. I keep a clean house and I keep his cage clean as well. What is the best practice for potty training him. Rewards? Treats? Praise? How often should I be letting him out? What do you suggest?
