Maybe she doesn't like the food and you should change it; perhaps she thinks you won't be happy if you still see food. Most animals prefer to eat raw foods or canned--Nature's Variety brand raw food is, apparently, really good. Check out the link!

If the owner just let the raw food sit there, when she came back the cats and dog would have eaten it all up. The summary states that it was Nature's Variety brand, and it was the Organic Chicken flavor.
Your dog will definitely gobble up the raw patties when you give them to her. This is the link for Nature's Variety:

There is an "amount to feed" button, and choose 100% raw as your choice. It will show how many patties you should feed to your dog.

I adopted my Min Pin from the humane society a year ago. She was the same way and to this day is still like that. I can leave her food down for all day but when I come home she eats it. This is a dry food so it isn't a problem. If you tried can food the dog will probably eat it after a short time. I tried different foods with my dog until I found the one she does like, but she still waits until I am home to eat it. Don't worry the dog will not starve, he just has a curious habit. The way I looked at was that she won't take food from a stranger so she has little chance of getting something not good for her.

You haven't had her all that long and you don't know her history. Perhaps she just feels more secure when you're with her so that's when she eats. There's no need for you to feel terrible because she's a grown dog - she's perfectly fine eating only once a day!
If you're worried about her, why not leave her a few milkbones when you go to work in the morning - she'll probably eat them at some point during the day. Or get her a kong and stuff it full of treats - she can have something to snack on as well as something to do figuring out how to get them out.

Sounds like a form of separation anxiety. She may eventually eat when you're not with her, but meanwhile, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. She'll eat at some point.
You could try some exercises that might help her though. Like on a day off you could pretend to leave for work but come back in just a few minutes. Do it often, leaving for longer and longer periods and it may alleviate her anxiety.

You got a good dog. I don't think it will starve itself, so don't worry. Make sure you leave plenty of water and food during the day for Fido. She will probably start to eat when she realizes you will come home every day. Being left in a pound at her age had to leave some sort of bad impressions. I am sure that with some TLC your doggie will be just fine!!

Whatever you do...do NOT spoil her, or it will continue and get worse. She is going to have to learn how to eat without you in the room.
Believe me, I understand. It goes along with what you feed her. Some people think they are spoiling their dogs by doing things they shouldn't do when it comes to what their dogs eat. The saddest part of my job is that some people continue to so called "spoil", and it is NOT for the good of the pet. It's terribly sad how many sick pets there are because of that fact.
Trust me when I tell you this! A DOG WILL NOT STARVE ITSELF! Do what is best. DO NOT SPOIL! At least not in any way as to harm your pet. And please! Start her off right with a natural diet. Visit our Natural Pet Shop at www.mypethaven.com for more information.

If she is hungry she will eat, dogs do not starve to death for lack of company. Feed your dog twice a day and if she does not eat it pick it up in 15 mins and put it in the fridge until next time. Free feeding encourages pickiness. Do not make a point of being in the room with her, if you are you are if you aren't fine too.

my dog is fed in teh kitchen but takes mouth fuls and brings to the living room. I stopped it by feeding her 2 times a day at breakfast where I was in teh kitchen dining room and at suppertime again when I ate my meal.
It also helped with begging for my food

Lol! I had a shepard like that, I came to the conclussion that he was just like humans, they like company for dinner to! Dont worry, when good dog food is available, no dog in history has ever let himself starve to death, (Barring any serious health problms) Bless his heart!
