i got a second opinion from another vet. my dog was on deramax. the vet i was going to didnt test my dogs blood before putting him on deramax he tested him 6 weeks later and he only tested for 1 liver enzyme. the vet i switched to said there is more than one enzyme.my dog had a complete blood work up and they are elevated so we are tring dexamethasone he is also taking denosyl for his liver.for the past 2 days my dog has been wetting his bed and seems to have to go out more often.i am hoping once the steriods kick in this will stop.when i was giving him deramax every other day he would wet the bed.i am so happy i listened to the little voice in my head that said go to another vet because the one you are going to is either stupid and/or just doesnt care about your dog because he is old.

visited petsmart today. I like to look at the different birds. but i have never wanted to buy from them. However, today there was this quaker parrot that was just too sweet. he was in a glass flight cage with small air vents. I talked into the air vent and it came running up to the air vent looking and smiling and trying to get out lol. I went to the other side of the cage, and called it and it trotted over to the other side. I have fallen in love with this bird!!! but, i left it there. i don't want to make any split decisions. What are the quirks and qualities of these birds? I've heard that they are loud...but that wouldn't bother me. Also, I have a cockatiel. would they get along? do quakers like scritches and lovin and TONS of attention? My cockatiel is with me all day long lol. she is never in her cage and rarely not on my shoulder. will a quaker like to do the same? my tiel goes everywhere with me when its not cold too!

I hatched brine shrimp eggs and i put them in a plastic fish bowl. I feed them yeast but that makes the bowl dirty, but I heard spirulina powder feeds them and doesn't dirty the bowl. And right now I had put yeast in the bowl and its a little dirty, and how can I clean the bowl without hurting the shrimp? And where can I find spirulina powder?

My puppy smelled really bad and this was like 2 days after we got her. So i got some puppy shampoo,by the way she is a girl. She got spayed so i was afraid to give her a bath, but i had no choice she smelled like poop so what i did was put her in the tube and i just washed her back and her paws and legs. ( there was little water in the tube ) I didn't wash her face nor did i touch her stomach do you think she is going to be ok? Because i did not want to infect it.

ps. I really love my puppy her name is Saddie Bear i love her so much i give her lots of love.

Recently rescued a border/collie, he had kennel cough. Was treated for it in the pound, and wasn't getting better. Took him back to a vet 5 days later, with no improvement. Perscribed Antibiotics and cough tabs. No improvement in 3 days. Took him to a new vet, He said this dog was full of pnemonia. persc. more antibiotics, gave shot, and cough meds. No improvement, 2 days later, admitted him to last vets an. hosp. for 3 days. IV drugs and fluids. Brough home, no energy, was understandable. Then stopped eating & drinking. Finally, with syrynge, fed him pedialyte, brought some life back to him. Then, he started having trouble breathing. It was progressively getting worse over last 5 days. Yest. back to vet on emer. call. His tongue purple, gasping for air. Gave prednisone, albuterol, more antibiotics, had me take him home. LONG Rough night, returned to vet a 9am, they saw improvement, took Xray, same course of treatment. ? Has anyone ever had a dog do all this before? He's only 5-6 month

Someone told me if you cut some hair off your cat's taill and scatter the hair around the entry way (outside porch etc,) if he ever got out he would ALWAYS find his way home. How true is this?
No I'm not blonde.

My cat seems to be sick. He is an indoor cat, about 13 years old. I am thinking that he caught a cold because it has been cold but then again he is pretty old.

His symptoms include drool/snot on his chin, does not respond when calling him, doesnt come to bed or do routine things, he looks out the window instead of sititng by the heater as usual, he is shedding more than usual and has a weird walk. This started yesterday, accroding to my mom (we do not live together).

I am affraid of taking him to the vet because I have had bad experiences with them. I had two of my cats in the past died a few days after taking them to the vet (separate times) and plus I do not have much money to take him. What should I do?

Every time my dog comes up to any one in the house to be pet, he starts growling. The more attention we show the louder he gets. Do a lot of dogs do this?

I got my black and silver striped angelfish when he was a baby 2 years ago. He's been in a 10 gallon tank (by himself, no other fish) and got to be about 4 inches diameter. Since this fish can grow a bit bigger, is it too late for him to get any bigger if I transfer him to a 30 gallon tank I just got for xmas?? Also, what would happen if I added a few other fish? What breed or variety would work best with the angelfish, if any?

My boyfriend got a cat, Ginger, a few months before we met, so I'm sure the cat is jealous that I'm in the picture now. Ginger used to be socialized before he got her, but now she's only used to him and doesn't like other people much. I have a dog who adores my boyfriend and likes to play with the cat. Sometimes Ginger will run away from or scratch my dog when she tries to play, and other times Ginger will scratch/swat my dog as my dog is walking by.

Also, very rarely, Ginger will allow me to pet her and will purr. Most of the time she recoils or leaves the room when I'm there. She sucks up to my boyfriend even when she's been a brat and clawed my dog or me. My boyfriend tries to be fair but usually blames my dog more because she's bigger.

I love animals, but this cat drives me nuts. I swear she's bipolar. I'm sure she can sense now that I don't like her, but I still make an effort. Anything I can do?

She got into some raw meat that fell off the grill. I think this is the cause. I was wondering if there is anything that i should give her to help this stop or is going to the vet the only ansewer. She doesn't seem to be acting any different than normal. Thank you for any advise.

I understand different cultures have different philosophies concerning cats and dogs, but what makes me sick is when people who are from cultures where dogs and cats are considered 'companion animals' abuse and even kill animals for the sake of entertainment or 'kicks' do sick things to a pet...what really p*sses me off is DOG FIGHTING. And just as bad is COCKFIGHTING. Why do some people get their thrills from participating in or watching such barbaric 'sports'? Are the criminal penalties for those who participate in such cruelty strict enough..or too lenient in your opinion?
