Every time my dog comes up to any one in the house to be pet, he starts growling. The more attention we show the louder he gets. Do a lot of dogs do this?

This is just "grumbling"! This is common in Rotties. I had a rottie that would grumble when ever we would rub his lower back. (This came in handy when people outstayed their welcome!)

I also just met a Shih Tzu that will grumble every time that he has someone who wants to pet him. This is normal in certain breeds and certain dogs.

Get a e book on canines preparation. I basically had similiar themes with my beagle. in case you enable the canines to not recognize her or his position then complications upward push up. Your husband might want to under no circumstances hit the canines. Does your canines sit up straight on the chair with you? Your canines must have a lite leash on to provide the canines coaching. at the same time as the canines is going to growl or lurch supply a company tug now to not damage THE canines and a company NO and also you should attempt this interior a million.5 seconds of the canines growling or lurching. Our beagle slept on the settee a large NO NO now shes on her mattress. the problem with this your canines is basically doing what she feels she has to do safeguard you. Your undesirable canines needs discipline not a smack. Yelling isn't the way both. So placed the mild leash which should be textile and short and enable her walk around the domicile with it. Then ideal her habit rapidly. You and your husband might want to analyze canines habit. undergo in concepts jumping up is a NO NO, lurching is a no no , once the canines is conscious his position the animal relaxes. The canines feels pressure as its his or her pastime to guard you. The undesirable problem is basically doing what interior the canines function the Alpha canines has to do safeguard the %.. So ideal the habit and also you would see a sparkling canines and a more desirable comfortable canines. No yelling and no smacking! only a tug on the leash and a company NO...solid success,,in case you want more desirable help e mail me. OK - the one about the husband was pretty funny, Blot. Anyway, my new shelter dog whines when she is extremely happy and getting affection shown to her. She also whines when I get home.

I'm eliminating the whine when I get home by stopping my actions of bringing her in, or turning my back on her when she does whine. This is just so she doesn't get in the habit of whining for attention.

I don't mind the happy whine at all. It is her way of showing affection back when I'm praising her, (along with waggin her tail, and putting up her paw).

You might want to take him to the vet, my dog did this once and it turned out that he had a skin rash. He was enjoying the petting but it hurt him, and he growled at us as a result. Either that or he has some sort of other problem. Try taking him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have rabies or some other harmful disease, just to be sure.

Yeah, my mom's dog growls any time he's excited or really happy. It scares people who don't know him. But I think it's pretty normal.

I have a peke that growls/talks when he is excited, I adopted him from a shelter and I think he was taught that there - you can tell the difference between his happy growl and his mad growl...

my Husky does something similar to growling ( if you didn't know the breed you'd swear it was, Huskies are VERY vocal) but its an invitation to play/socialize with her . What kind of dog do you have?

If he growls when he's happy, what does he do when he's aggressive? Contact the dog whisperer.

yes, its normal for some dogs to be more vocal than others.

My dog whines when we first get home & greet him, & its really loud.

Just think of it has his way of saying "yay, my family is home!!!"
