I think my kitty is now in early labor. She has nested in the closet and I have put a blankie in there with a heating pad on one side. She has loss of apetite and is taking water if I offer it but she isnt seeking it out. I'm a little worried because she doesnt want to walk, or acts like walking is painful to her. Is this just part of the labor process for this kitty?

Is this normal in some cats?

I have had one other kitty in my life give birth and she followed me everywhere she went during labor. I literally had to sit with her and hold her paw for her ot have them, so that is the only thing I have to judge by. This behavoir in this kitty just seems odd to me.

Last Christmas I got a 30 gallon tank and got some small Oscars. One Tiger and one Albino. It has been about a year and my Oscars are huge! About 7 inches and all they do is eat, and eat, and eat some more large gold fish.... I didn't realize how big, how much they would eat, and how dirty the tank gets. I think I want to start over and get all new smaller non carnavore fish. What is the best way to get rid of my Oscars?? Besides selling them cuz I know I won't get very much for them.

My 9 month old male Berner likes to sit on everyone, including my 8 yr. old Golden Ret. Both my dogs are boys and get along very well. My Berner will also "clean" my Golden when he comes in from going outside. I tell him "NO" and he will walk away and leave him (my Golden) alone. Does anyone know why he does this? He's like a mother hen. He'll even lick my Golden's face, ears, arm pits (if my Golden is laying down)He also will come over to you if your sitting or standing and just block you (as if he doesn't want you to move) with his hips/rump. Is this a guarding/protection thing? Or him just being a puppy? This is my first Berner and he is so different from my Golden Ret.but he's soooo awesome!

Well we have a full grown pom and I desperatly need to know how to find out if she is pregnant. We are going to go on a cruise right about the time she would give birth according to when she mated. We are pretty sure that she is pregnant, but I really want to make sure. We were told that you cant find out if a dog is pregnant until after 27 days. Does anyone know how I could figure out if she is pregnant right away without taking her to the vet. She doesnt seem to be getting any bigger, so im wondering. It has only been about a week and a half though. Hurry serious answers only please.

On friday I was blessed in getting a beautiful German Shepard puppy; who will be 4 months on the 1st of January. Hes very sweet though teething and still learning to potty train. He was also fixed before he came to us, he still has his stitches in.
However lately ...

Whenever I'm walking down the hall he will sniff my crotch and jump on me. At first I thought it was just a way to say "Hello" ( which is why they sniff each other) but then it started to get a bit more disturbing for me. Today I went to pet him and he bit my arm. i thought he was playing (it didnt hurt) but then he tried to mount my arm and hump it.

O_O i dont know what to do now. and im getting a bit nervous. I dont want this to be on-going behavior..and ive told him to stop but there are times where hell let me pet him..and others where hell try to get me. And I fear that its something I cant fix becuase if hes doing it now..what will happen when he gets older? can anyone help?

Just had my dog microchipped and he's been sick since...is this just a coincidence? Also.. Is it possible for the chip to come 'out'? I found something in his bed that looked suspiciously like one.

i have 2 budgies and they are kept in the living room where they can be around people ( i have a very quiet house) i talk to them, give them attention, they seem to like it but as soon as i open the cage they freak out! i got them when they were juveniles and had them for 3 years now. I tried the whole slowly putting your hand in, so they get used to it several times daily routine, as well as offer them treats- but they completely don't trust me. even if i leave the cage open all day they won't leave- they might climb to the top, but they don't want to fly really. they have bonded with eachother and sing happily all day, so i know they arent depressed. they also refuse to eat pellets and fresh fruits and veggies- anything that doesn't look like a seed gets angrily thrown away or they are terrified of it. is there any other way to gain their trust, and to get them to eat healthier? i tried only giving pellets- gradually switching them over- but they refused to eat, so i relente

OK, guys. I need help from all the other dane-owners out there! (Or is it people owned by danes?) We're bringing home our pup in less than a week, and I want to know what I'm in for!

We've had other dogs before- all mutts. In fact, we have 2 now. An aussie mix, and a wolf/rottie/malamute. We've had them from puppies, so I'm used to the whole 'puppy thing'. This is going to be our first dog w/papers.

SO! Any particular "Dane Antics" I should be on the lookout for? Yes, his ears are going to be cropped (Please don't lecture-I've heard it before) so is there anything I need to know that's dane-specific there?

Thanks for the help!!

The cat that I grew up with has always been notorious for licking photos and bengay, is it sweet? My husband says that is why animals such as cats are prone to dying from antifreeze poisoning, b/c it is sweet tasting. So what is it in these three things, photos, bengay, and antifreeze that makes cats lick them? I have pondered this for years and am glad to have found somewhere to ask this question, it's been driving me nuts! Thanks in advance for your answers!

We have a small patio on the back of our townhome with a small grassy flower bed. The neighbor's cats are constantly jumping over the fence to our patio and using our patio furniture to sharpen their claws as well as our small flower bed as a litter box. I don't want to kill them or anything but I want them away from my property! Please help!

I have a dog that might be pregnant. We live accross from the beach and we are constantly battling sand fleas. We usually use Frontline 2X a month, and a flea bath once a week, but neither of these are safe for a pregnant dog. Any suggestions???
