I have asked a few questions already and would like to thank all the people that have sent in answers to me, my cat rosie is still with us I think just about, I was advised by the PDSA to have her put down two weeks ago but brought her home and got a second opinion from a private vet, she had some test done she has a heart murmour and her kidneys are on border line she had some injections a lot of tests run and a course of antibiotics she has to have medicine before her food to help her keep it down. I am still awaiting results from the Feline Centre in Bristol where the vet sent her blood samples. She is at the moment quite weak and for the last two days not eaten but for the past fortnight she was almost her old self even started to wash herself, could not beleive it and now the last two days she has been off of her food I feel so bad making her take the medicine three times a day, but I can not give up on her unless I am told she is beyound help I wont. what do you think?

Someone has abandoned a pet rabbit and the bleeding heart that I am, I am going to take it to the local animal shelter; I do not want to set a trap as I will most likely end up catching a raccoon. Is there any other way?

I'm interested in adopting a lab puppy. But this question goes out to all those Lab lovers/owners out there: What's it really like having one? Exercise? Grooming? Training Ability? Feeding? Size? Is it to much trouble for a girl that's still in school?

LOL. I just wanted to say thank you for your answers! I always love reading it when people have nice things to say or stories to tell. I especially love the dog/ice one. I can just picture all these dogs running around chasing and chewing on ice, and I think that would be adorable. I wish I could write back to every single person, but I can't, so I wanted a big group hug and a thanks for making me smile today. (I'm in a good mood... it's friday!) ENJOY!

My 6 month old cat just loves to bite my hands or go for my feet. i think it's my fault cuz when he was little, I used to let him do that. It's my 1st cat.. still trying to learn about him. Now, how do I break him of that?

A few minutes ago I caught a small snake slithering around my front yard, but it snuck under a bush and no longer saw It.

Just curious as to what kinda of snake it was,any help would be appreciated.

It was really small, maybe about 9-11 inches long...very small in width, maybe half an inch,it was black but with very bright green stripes, almost yellow, but visibly green. The weather right now is cloudy and humid,it had been somewhat cold for the last few weeks and it didn't appear to be a pet snake,it was probably a baby snake too.

We have a male husky that we adopted from our local SPCA. They told us that he is neutered and that we are the 4th family to adopt him. This was back in 2003. So there were no physical marks to show he was neutered, but it more then likely happened back with the first family.

Yesterday, we went out for a few hours, food shopping and stuff. My wife’s step-dad heard what sounded like one of the dogs was hurt. When he went upstairs to check on them, the husky was locked with our female malamute. So apparently he had to urge to mate with her.

Do neutered males lock up with female dogs in heat? This is her third season and the first time that he has had the “urge” to do this.

Please do not preach to me about getting my female spayed. She is let out into a 8 foot high fenced in yard and never left alone. We will not spay her unless it’s a medical emergency. Our husky was a surprise because he is neutered, so no non-altered dogs will be getting anywhere near her!

my puppies LOVE ice. it is fascinating. I put it in their water and it's like they are bobbing for apples, but instead it's ice. when one piece drops on the ground they chase it all over and then chew it to pieces. Anyone else?

My dog's previous owners had her on a mixture of wet and dry food.

I want her on just dry food so I stopped putting the wet food down for her.

I did this for 3 days and she just refused to eat even though I knew she was hungry because she was begging for our food(totally out of character for her.) She didn't get any of our food. I just showed her her bowl with the food in it.

Well I got concerned that she hadn't eaten in three days so I caved and put the wet food in it and she gobbled it up. I know I shouldn't have done that, but I can't let my dog not eat.

What is a better way to go about getting her solely on dry food? Should I just start with the wet/dry food mix and slowly reduce the amount of wet food?

Is there _anything_ factual to all this muck-raking? There seems to be an awful lot of "such-and-such horrid stuff is legal to put in pet food; therefore, commercial pet food is bad!"

Yet I can't find many questionable ingredients on the (admittedly high-end) stuff my fur-covered friend eats.

Are there _really_ any brands to beware of, save for the obvious 33c-per-large-tin ones with ingredients like "meat by-products"?

I know caffeen is bad for dogs, but my dog loves the smell of coffee. She goes nuts when I come home with a cup of Dunkin!! I was wondering if it would be a problem if I baked her some plain dog cookies using a cup or so of decaffinated coffee in place of water? I guess the overall amount would be on cup of decaffinated coffee split up amongst 40 - 50 cookies. Thanks!
