We have a male husky that we adopted from our local SPCA. They told us that he is neutered and that we are the 4th family to adopt him. This was back in 2003. So there were no physical marks to show he was neutered, but it more then likely happened back with the first family.

Yesterday, we went out for a few hours, food shopping and stuff. My wife’s step-dad heard what sounded like one of the dogs was hurt. When he went upstairs to check on them, the husky was locked with our female malamute. So apparently he had to urge to mate with her.

Do neutered males lock up with female dogs in heat? This is her third season and the first time that he has had the “urge” to do this.

Please do not preach to me about getting my female spayed. She is let out into a 8 foot high fenced in yard and never left alone. We will not spay her unless it’s a medical emergency. Our husky was a surprise because he is neutered, so no non-altered dogs will be getting anywhere near her!

grapelady, yes your right, there is no sack there, excuse me, but there is such a thing as the testicles not descending. the fence that we have is a privacy fence, not chain link and what part of we are out there with her when she is let out?

As for our objection to getting her altered is the fact that, there are studies out now that show that altering your dog at all can cause more problems then it prevents. Besides, its our dog and our choice, we don't buy into the AR way of thinking!

Our dog is 10 years old and was neutered around one year old when we got him. He has continued to have both the urge to mate, and also has "mated" with a couple of other dogs over the years. Nothing happened though as is nothing there to happen. He can still go through all the motions though just like nothing happened. I reckon that this works as just a vasectomy with some dogs as most dogs with neutering probably don't have the desire.

what do you mean he has no physical marks that he was nuetered? He will not have big hairy nubbins back there if he was been nuetered.. thats pretty obviouse!

And dogs can breed through chain link fences.. thats why a good kennel will have only partial fencing on the top of a solid wall/barcade. Dogs can and do hook up through a fence.. and some times a male with actually dig under a fence. So I would still be concerned that your female could get pregnant.

My little dog (all 13 pounds of him) is not nuetered, we live in an apt and he is never outside, and I'm not worried about agression or wandering. But I dont understand your objection to "fixing" a dog.

Yes, I know first hand that an altered male can and will get hooked. The have a mass on their penis that makes this possible and it has nothing to do with their balls. Have you noticed if he is laying on his back and you rub his stomach sometimes it will excite him alittle and you can see the knot looking thing under his skin.

Yes it can and does happen but you will not be having any pups from this tie up.
If the dog was neuterd later in life or sometimes some of them seem to retain some of the more manly qualities and it can happen but trust me there will be no puppys.

I haven't heard of it. He's neutered, so even though it might be surprising or maybe even worrying, it shouldn't cause problems with your malamute or any other females.

We got our Pit bull neutered, and they took his testicles out, and we caught him locked up with the neighbor dog.
