Many people make the mistake of playing with kittens with their hands when those tiny little bites are cute and don't hurt. Now you know the consequences of doing that. Get a cat dancer or feather toy and play with him that way so he doesn't get involved with your hands.
If he bites when you are petting him then get the toy out and let him play with you that way. If he bites when you are petting him and he is relaxed then you must say a firm "No!" and put him away from you. Hissing in his face will also let him know that this is not acceptable behavior. That's what mother cats do to correct their kittens.

Hi Cass...the best way to help a kitty to learn not to bite is to withdraw yourself from them consistently over time and with much patience. As soon as they mellow then reward them with a pet and kitty treat. They soon begin to associate that rough play isn't acceptable and are rewarded as such. Some people will recommend squirting with water, however this method doesn't always work as some cats begin learn that the person holding the bottle is mean and may become more aggressive. Other cats find this a game so it's ineffective as well.
It's important to note that cats are very fond of attention so thereby withholding this from them is considered punishment, yet a kind form of punishment.
Training we use for our exotic cats is with operant conditioning through positive reinforcement. They learn new behaviours quickly with this method as well.
Here's a little more about operant conditioning and how it works effectively in training animals: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operant_conditioning

Well all you can do is get a spray bottle and spray him with it and say no, my kitten is the same way , he likes to bite me and sometimes he wont let go. Maybe try some toys and when he does that him him some toys and walk away , some pepole say to thump it on the nose , but that is cruel to do , they are senitive about thier nose , one spray of water will let him know that is wrong to do. hope this helps and you and your cat have a nice day.And maybe try to put lemen juice on your hands , all cat's hate the taste of it.And get a scraching post , it really helps.

I had a kitten that used to bite. I would say, "No biting." If the cat bit me after I told him not to I put him in time out. I put him in the bathroom. He tried to get out. I kept him in the bathroom until he calmed down. Once he was quiet, I let him out. After a while he bit less frequently. Eventually he became the most lovable cat. It works for kids. It works for pets. You just have to be consistent.

my cat bites at my feet and hands alot also, fortunately all i have to say is "no bite" and he will instantly turn the bite into a lick as if he needs to make the booboo better, and at the same time.. thinks he's tricking me into believing he was never biting to begin with. Try itttttt.. it might work.. remember to reward!!

Get ur self a 3' long stick & tie a string on it, use that to play with him so u don't get cat scrach fever. If you won't to try & get him to stop biting u, cover his eyes & slap him so he dosen't see where the pain is coming from when he is doin it, he may learn to stop .

Discipline ur cat whenever he/she bites. When you discipline him/her dont take it easy. Try to make it a big deal so that the next time she/he tries to do so...he/she should be kind of afraid. i've tried this with my cat and it worked...
as a signal that your cat is getting the message across...try to see if your cat seems afraid to play with you...(watch his /ears..lol)

dont't worry he will out grow this stage of playfulness. try to get her more toys or a scratch post. my cat was like that as a kitten but now she is almost 11 years old and all she really wants to do now is sleep all day. when my children and i come home from school and work she sort of looks at us like God is it that time of day again. enjoy his or her youth.
